  • It should be an essential part of your marketing, it won't bring floods of traffic in one hit but if you have cretaed a new site or service its like putting your roots out and building the business on the right footing with real links back to your site.

    PR Web is good.

I just submitted a press release and had 259 views within a day. I paid the 30.00 fee for more visibility and the ability to add links. The problem is that you lose visibility quickly with a PR . Docsharing sites seem to be just as effective and don't require any payment for submissions and inclusion of your links.

By the way... love your program

for me online press releases are no different to articles, at least in terms of what they deliver. little traffic, but a backlink from a decent domain.

worth doing, just make sure you dont go all out promotional when writing a release.

Press release give you better instant visibility than articles. however, the sites that allow hyperlinks are not the best press release sites. So, for long term SEO articles are better. but there is no harm in publishing press release through free press release sites. and most free press release sites allow any promotional content. google prefers articles over press release. Just write an article publish it on top article sites then publish on top press release websites. And use any good submitter like: http://products.softsolutionslimited...sher/index.htm to save lots of time.

"Thanks" me if you liked this information.

  • All I can say is that your press releases need to be up to date and this might focus your attention on sniffing around real-time information's. But as to its importance, press release brings on time traffic at least temporarily.

How good is your press release?

    Is it really news?

Is it something people are really interested in?

Are you going to tell people about the press release who might be interested in using it?

Are you really the company involved with the product or just promoting it? Did you write the press release from this perspective?

    Want me to keep going???

Your press release is going to be just as good as your writing skills, promotion skills, and newsworthiness of the material. It can be highly effective if you do it right, and a complete waste of time if you do it wrong.

I think I would rather go with article submission over press releases.
Press release just brings you some temporary traffic that will die out really fast
Whereas article submission are always there as long as they are well written and place on the right place or site.

I have yet to utilize Press Releases . . .

Mainly because I am unsure how to structure a PR.

I've seen a few people mention that PR's are written like articles, but what exactly do you say in a PR? I'm familiar with a PR for an offline biz. I guess this is where I am drawing the confusion. . .

Do most folks just write like a short informative "introduction" to the business?

Thanks for those that can help

    There's your answer...

Press releases are also known as news releases. Not "disguised article" releases or "advertisement" releases.

Throw together a badly-written release and spew it onto the net for backlinks, and you might get the backlinks - maybe.

Have a truly newsworthy story to tell (not a product pitch) and tell it well, submit it to the right places, and it will spread. I was thumbing through one of my wife's magazines the other day, and I was floored by the number of blogs and websites mentioned. So I started googling some of the sites, and found more than one with legitimate news releases on the topic the magazine picked up.

The URLs printed in that magazine will never show up on a backlink report, but I imagine they drove a lot of traffic from readers who wanted more...

Like everything else in marketing, the effectiveness of press releases depend on their quality and execution. Following are a few guidelines you should strictly adhere to when writing press releases:

    1. The press release should be newsworthy.

    2. The press release should be written using fundamental copywriting principles.

    3. The press release should offer something of real value.

    4. The press release should be interesting.

    5. The press release should be written with both the reader and search engines in mind. Pay attention to spelling and grammar.

If your press releases follow the aforementioned guidelines, chances are they will be successful.

Press Releases are the most popular means of providing publicity online and offline. They have many advantages that both small and big business owners can profit from. Some of those are:

More traffic to your site - The press release that gets published on one of the media outlets will have your website link provided within it. Those who have reviewed your release and want more information will click through the link or check out the website.

Build a brand - What better way to get your business name into the minds of your target audience or anyone who happens to read your press releases. The more a consumer sees your business name being mentioned the more likely they will remember it the next time they, or someone they know, is in need of your products.

Press releases are terrific, as long as you know how to write them, and how to distribute them.

As far as providing a burst of traffic is concerned, it is great. It helps branding your company.

As far as SEO is concerned, you need to deeply understand how to structure them for maximal syndication, and you need to keep writing them on a regular basis and submit on places that allow to have backlinks intact.

Like many of the others have said, it all depends on the quality of your press release. There are many sites that will flat-out reject your release if they think it's more of a sales pitch than newsworthy. When I was working in TV news, we got releases faxed and emailed to us all of the time. 99% of them were sales pitches that promptly got thrown in the garbage. If you just want to pitch your product, they're not going to work.

But, if you have legitimate news to announce, press releases can be very helpful. And, with universal search, your press release can wind up one page 1 (at least temporarily) even if your site isn't there yet.

    As good as you are.

A press release is not just an article with a standard header and footer tacked on.

A press release is a sample news story about your company, products, or services.

Its purpose is to convince reporters that they should submit that story, or one very much like it, to their editor for publication and/or broadcast.

The best press releases get published exactly as they are received, in dozens of places that have millions of readers.

The worst get passed around the office and ridiculed. After a company sends a few bad press releases, the staff will lose interest in laughing at you, but remember your name anyway - and begin ignoring everything you ever send them.

My strategy is to get 5+ press releases written that are similar - then find 5 people who have google news sites and get them to publish them at a particular time.

What usually happens then is you get FAR more visibility as other news sources can potentially pick you up.

It is important to note however that your press release must be newsworthy and not look like a blatant ad for you product.

Anything that can give your site exposure, specially if it is free, should be used.

But as other members have indicated, evaluate your time, and how to present your product or service without being pushy.

      Sincerely,

Press releases are really effective if done in proper manner. Try using free press releases in that you will get more audience. Press releases should be appealing so people think visiting your site. Audience will usually ignore press releases if they are boring and nothing new in them.

PR Web is the only one I’d recommend.

Everytime you write an article also submit it to PR Web, as this helps build one way back links to your website as well as direct traffic.

PR or Press Rleases are very much effective. I have read success stories of business people using this kind of style when dealing with their products. It is said that Pr is one of the best tool to advertise your business, But must be a press release that is something newsworthy. And that's what trips up most Internet marketers when it comes to creating one.

It's not that cut and dried - and it goes far beyond newsworthiness. As I stated above, the quality of the press release as well as the execution are huge factors in determining the success or failure of a press release.
