Changed my optin, no name field...now a question.

Alright I changed my one opt in to just an email field as I know it will raise conversions. Although my emails all have the (name) field.

So it goes "Hey (Name) Get Your Free Stuff Now) Or whatever...you know what I mean.

Do they still see that name when they get the email since they never put in a name? Do I have to change all my autoresponder emails?

You probably have to change all your emails, unless there is a default.

Most email service providers will have a default to use if the name field is blank.

You'll want to contact the tech support staff at whatever autoresponder service you are using since each company will probably have its own unique way of dealing with that particular issue.

Most providers let you configure a "default" value if that field isn't in the database for a given subscriber. Check the help on your autoresponder for how to configure this, so your new subscribers get "Dear bargain-hunter" or something.

Still feels insincere as hell, so I'd just edit the emails and get rid of it.

Nothing will show up in the (name) for all those who subscribe after your change.
Those already subscribed will still have the name in that bracket.

Yes they will still see the name field. You would need to go into your autoresponder account, and remove the personalised name field in the messages.

    Hope this helps!

honestly i would keep the name field... you may get a few less opt ins but they will be more serious clients.

i have found that the people on my lists with asadss as the name or fart as the name end up unsubscribing rather fast.

it all comes down to the quantity and not the quality.

plus when you have the name field you can test emails with the name in the subject, body copy, and see how it works for you.

just my 2 pennies but i do have several large lists.
