Clickbank Is Not The Only Game In Town!

This post is probably geared more toward new Affiliate Marketers than it is to all of you old seasoned vets, that fart dusty old warrior forum post. lol

I've been getting a lot of emails from people stuck on picking a product to promote and it seems that the only ideas many of them have involves clickbank and/or downloadable products. I have no idea what has so many people stuck on these types of products, it's like they don't realize that there's a world of other products out there waiting to be promoted.

I decided to create this post to try shedding some light on this problem from my point of view for those people that might need it. My intentions are to open minds and eyes to the opportunities that are available and maybe recharge some thinking caps.

I'm not willing to tell you my niche's, so please stop asking! In fact I don't think anyone here is willing to give away their profitable niche's unless your willing to pay some pretty hefty finders fee's.

Yes, promoting downloadable products can be very profitable, but so can promoting physical products and services. IMHO, physical products and services have a lot more overall potential than the average e-book does. I know that many of you might disagree but I've played both sides of the fence and in my experience, physical products and services win hands down.

The reasoning behind my thoughts are simple, physical products and services are usually well branded. When people see brand names and logos that their familiar with, it sort of eases their minds. People will usually know right away if their interested or not just by seeing those brands because they know the type of products or services associated with that particular brand.

There's a big difference between a product that fulfills a need and a product that fulfills a want, I prefer to promote products and services that fulfill needs. These need fulfilling products and services are necessities and are usually easy sells because people actually need what they offer. There are tons of physical products and services that fulfill specific needs, opposed to the average e-book that's geared toward fulfilling wants. I know, I know, there are some very good e-books out there that target needs, but why isolate yourself to one type of product.

If your having a hard time finding profitable products to promote, I would suggest that you explore new networks. One of my top affiliate networks is commission junction, many of the largest branded companies use them to manage their affiliate programs.

I'll be the first to admit that it took me a long time to come to these conclusions and fully understand what the heck I was doing, but I eventually found a winning combination of strategy, mindset, technique, and effort.

This business requires a lot of sacrifice, either in the form of money or time. I've sacrificed a s*** load of both on my journey but it was worth. Use the forum for what it offers, but remember to also use your own good judgement and common sense in the process, you'll be amazed at how far it takes you when mixed with a little of your own effort.

I wish you all unlimited success, health, and happiness!

This post was based purely on my views and experience, and I hope it helps someone on their journey to success.

In the end I guess the skill is placing yourself in front of someone who is ready to buy. So physical products clearly fit that category in terms of model numbers etc. My own feeling is to have a mix of products to promote both physical and digital. The main thing of course is finding the right niche and getting targetted traffic.

Part of your comment reminds me of my mindset as a newbie. We have access to more traffic than we can shake a stick at, the real key is understanding how things work. IMO

Targeting model numbers:confused: thats a low blow, the're plenty of products that are specific enough to target ready buyers and fulfill needs. Sure if your main business model is blogging about limiting topics, you may have problems.

I have a few blogs just like almost everyone here but if newbies rely on blogging to support their families, they might starve in the process. Also IMO

Note to newbie affiliate marketers: Do not try to sell to people, market yourself well first then go promote a product you like. Then it eliminates the worry of trying to find a product because you know what they are going to want.

This is true for bloggers and social marketing but this changes when you get into ppc, media buys, etc..... I'm not a Hugh fan of social marketing, too much work involved compared to the ROI IMHO.

Clickbank seems to be the answer a lot of times for digital download products, but there are also other digital download product affiliate sites. What you promote all depends on what your market is and what they want.

I noticed today that in santa barbara both Barnes & noble & Borders closed up, whats that say about E-books or rather physical books. I see an opportunity here, has anyone ever published anything on LULU.Com? You can publish in Ebook form & they will print and ship physical books on a when ordered basis...just a thought.

I know that a lot of you create e-books for a living so your going to fight tooth and nail about how great it is to promote e-books. I'm not knocking the e-book game at all, I know that there's a ton of money to be made with them.

      But.....

There's tons of other products for affiliates to cash in on also. I made a decent income pushing e-books and I still promote e-books every now and then, but I'm literally making 100 times more promoting products and services that aren't related to the digital craze.

There are also tons of products that naturally sell themselves, and will continue to sell themselves until the end of time. My goal was not to put anyone down as for the approach they decide to take, but to maybe share ideas and maybe help someone spark or brainstorm the possibilities of other profitable directions.
