Picking a Domain Question

Ok guys,

Usually I try to register an exact match domain. So if my keyword is stainless steel pans then I try to register stainlesssteelpans.com

But lets say I have two similar products with similar keywords lets say

1. stainless steel pans
2. stainless steel pots

What do you guys think about registering stainlesssteelpotsandpans.com

or would it be better to register just the best one (highest search volume & lowest competition) and then create a separate page to target stainless steel pots?

*of course these aren't my actual keywords

Jon

I know that it is not an exact match domain. That was my question.

So if I have two keywords. Lets say the same ones above

Stainless steel pots 3500 exact searches a month
Stainless steel pans 2200 exact searches a month

So which one is the better option:

      1. Combined into stainlesssteelpotsandpans.com or

      2. Add an extra word like stainlesssteelpotsinfo.com or

      3. Go with a different TLD stainlesssteelpots.org

Assume I am trying to create a website to sell stainless steel pots and pans

I would go with the exact keyword match option (#3). #1 is a little too long and unwieldy for me, and I'm not sure how it'd do in terms of ranking.

With option #3, in my opinion you;d stand a higher chance of ranking for the keyword phrase that has the higher number of exact match searches.

First of all have you done any research on your competition. If your competition is low for stainless steel pots, go for the domain name, stainlesssteelpots.org

I've found that .net and .org will rank the same as .com

Now if you really want a .com, go for stainlesssteelpotsinfo.com
Your main keyword is still in the domain and its been proven that adding info or blog at the end of your keyword will still give you the same results.

If you go for 'stainlesssteelpotsandpans' I think you will at least get the credit for having the keywords in the url for both keywords. I'm not saying this is the be all and end all, but I know in a keyword tool like Market Samurai they do place emphasis on this and claim that it really helps SEO rankings.

My experience is that exact match is everything. I had a no 1 SERPS page that was on page 7 for the same two keywords with an s at the end of them. So I would say don't combine them.

try exact match com net org info first.

Then try something like discountstainlesssteelpots or stanlesssteelpotsdeals.

Don't go overboard worrying about it, just get a domain name and start marketing. If you wait around trying to pick a name the time will fly by.

If EMD's were all there is to SEO, they would have all been snatched up ages ago. And ages like in 10 years ago. Not like 12 months ago.
