Is anybody using URL Rotators?

If so, are they doing what you want?

Please let me know which ones you use and how it is working for you.

Thank you,
Austin Rose

I have used many rotators in the past, today they do not work to help with SEO

what exactly are you trying to accomplish with the URL rotators?

The only time I use anything like a url rotator is when I'm split testing ads - but in this instance, I am actively driving traffic so I don't worry about SEO.

I write my own simple code for this.

I also use things like url redirects - especially with clickbank products to help people get to my products number 2 through N since their default hop link always brings you to the only link they let you define. A simple url redirect based on a passed parameter sends the folks to the right sales page.

I am liking the coding part. As I really enjoy learning new things and especially new ways to manipulate data. I have used SQL at my full time job so this is really neat learning MySQL and PHP to create something of my own. Please pass along any pointers as I will need them.

          Hi Austin,

One of the great things about php is that there is tons of source code available in a wide variety of applications to peek under the hood and see how things are done.

          A great resource is

          The PHP Resource Index

There you will find thousands of free scripts covering just about anything you might want to do - all with source code so you can download them, install them and play around with the code to see how it all works.

Its a great way to learn.

      Ed,

I am working to set up a new service that will combine URL Rotators with offline advertising. Similar to affiliate pools. So I was just hoping to get a feeling of how others are using URL Rotators.

      Thanks,
      Austin

You can also install a program like PHPAdsNew or OPENX as an Ad server.
It accepts HTML as the URL and also gives you the ability to track click through rates and impressions.

May be overkill for what you need... but look into it as I have found it great to implement on all my sites and track ads.

      Hey Guys,

Thanks for the resources. I will definitely check them out.
As I am hoping to get this Rotator to do things that no other rotators do. So, I will have to learn the code to make it perform the way I want.

      Thanks again.
