Hi guys,

Im relatively new here and to IM, but I have the desire to learn and become successful. I can vision myself working at it and eventually succeeding in this, but heres my problem ...

At the moment, I feel like I have been overloaded with information, and have no idea where to start! Whether to look into CPA or PPC or Amazon or something completely different.

Same with the WSO's, I keep looking at amazing offers, but have no idea where to start or what I should be looking for.

Another problem is worrying that I am missing something out, for example, finding something I would like to do and focus on, but then not taking action because I think to myself "what if there is something else that has greater potential, and I am just wasting my time on this one"

Any guidance on where I should start and ideas on how to decide on the area that I should focus on would be great!

Thanks
Alice

First and fore most, try learning some Basic Stuff like

    Setting up a blog.
    Doing basic SEO.
Monetize it with CPA / Adsense / Clickbank product / Amazon.
    Building traffic.

Have a to-do-list. Stick to it. Take ACTION.

But if you are really to succeed with anything, whether it is setting up a website or making money online, you've got to have focus.

LASER TARGETED FOCUS is very important.

Schedule particular time for ur mailing n socialising online stuff. Block those websites which gets you distracted easily.

Leechblock, free firefox plugin, best productivity tool designed to block those time-wasting sites.

Don't hop from one thing, to another, to another, constantly distracted. Focus on the moment.

You have to focus and stay focused if you want to succeed.

The longer you keep questioning yourself the longer it will be before you are successful.... If you are just going to spend all your time worrying then perhaps internet marketing isn't for you... The best way to get started is just to jump in... I learned much more from my failures than I ever did from some ebook or WSO... I think the best place to start is to pick one method (any method) and learn all about it.. read on forums, ask questions, and when you feel confident... TAKE ACTION!! Stop worrying about if something else has a greater potential and start worrying about utilizing the potential you already have to make your endeavors successful... Good luck and I hope this helps a little as getting started can really be the hardest part...

I have spent a fortune on books, videos and training. At the end of the day it is best to take one step at a time - make that successful and move on. I had to retrace my steps to move forward.

The problem with all the information around is that it can take up so much time that you never do anything to start improving your business

you either sell your own stuff or sell someone else as an affiliate choose that 1st.

Its easier to be an affiliate 1st e.g. adsense, click bank, amazon.

Then you must find a way to sell this info e.g. through a blog, seperate articles, forums

I choose to to most of my sites in blogs and slap adsense on to start my income.

All you need is to find a small niche thats not over populated get some article made put them on a blog organised. Then add an adsense plugin to slap adsense in the articles then create a few links with forums.

Sorry little jumbled but im sure you can take something from it.

      Hi Alice

      My advice...

Pick one strategy -- pick anything and get started.

Big tip: the goal of Internet marketing is to make SALES.

It's NOT to learn how to create websites, blog, write sales pages... it's just to make sales, that's all.

So just pick something/ anything and DO SOMETHING.

You said: "Another problem is worrying that I am missing something out, for example, finding something I would like to do and focus on, but then not taking action because I think to myself "what if there is something else that has greater potential, and I am just wasting my time on this one".

Everything you do in IM is worthwhile. The operative word is DO. Thinking without doing achieves nothing.

The benefit of WSOs is that they teach you how to sell. (Most of them, anyway.) So buy a WSO which appeals to you (follow your intuition, it's always trustworthy) and then work the system you bought.

If you have questions, ask the person who sold you the system. Or ask here, in the main forum.

Trust me on this: you can't make a mistake. Everything ties together in IM, and the more you know -- as long as you use what you know -- the more success you'll achieve.

I wish you much success -- IM is huge fun. :-)

      Just do something... anything.

      Hi Lissylou

First create a blogsite that people want to visit and return to. Choose a subject you have a degree of passion for (you could even go out and learn about something new and chart your progress. You could chart your progress through 'IM'. If you're struggling, so are others). Be different from other sites, come at the subject from a different perspective. Research, write and promote your site. Become an 'expert in the field' and show that your site is a 'centre of excellence'. Build trust with your readers. They are then more likely to recommend you to others and visit 'Affiliates' who you have carefully selected and recommended. Hopefully you will become a valuable marketing tool for your Affiliates. They get more customers and you receive commission, WIN WIN. There is no 'quick fix' in IM/AM, it's like any business, you have to work at it and learn from your mistakes. Don't start with Affiliates who offer large returns and try to build a site around them. Hope this helps and good luck. Martin

I'd recommend doing something your passionate about. If you have the drive to do something then do that and don't skip around just cause everyone else around you might be moving to different things.

The easiest way to start is by becoming an affiliate but do the small stuff first and learn as you go. Also take the money you do make and invest it back into your business. Buying a helpful ebook, buying ads whatever it may be that you feel will help you grow.

I think all of us have been in your shoes at some point..

Every strategy you've learned about could bring you some success. It's really just up to you which one you want to stick with.

As a newbie I'd recommend sticking with Clickbank/Adsense/Amazon..

DO NOT waste money on any kind of paid traffic. PPC will leave ya broke and frustrated unless you get lucky and have a profitable campaign starting out.

I'd focus on SEO, targetting low competition keywords. Stick to the free stuff and work it until it works for you.

Like some of the others mentioned, if you find a niche you're passionate about, that'll definitely help you stay motivated.

      Good luck!

Thanks everyone! Some really useful suggestions and tips there.

I definitely need to take action, and I know that if I do I will be learning as I go.

I am going to pick one area and stick to it, and not let myself get distracted, until I have learned a decent amount of information about it. I think this will be amazon associates. I know some people have mixed feelings on this, but I like the idea of it.

Just another quick question - where do I go about finding information on SEO and gaining traffic? This may seem like a simple question - but I need it for a newbie!

One of the easiest ways to get started is to pick something that you like. If you have a hobbythat you really like or maybe you are an excellent cook or maybe you love where you live.

Got to blogger and set up one of their free blogs - they are called blogspot blogs - and experiement with all teh ins and outs of how to set up a little site like that without all the stress of setting up a site and trying to mkae money with it right off the bat.

If you already know how to do stuff like that, maybe you could set up a blogspot blog about some particular product that you like.

But if you learn to be comfortable with the technical stuff first, and try it out and take your learning steps on a low stress subject, I suspect you will have a lot better time when it is time to do more.

Like learning onsite SEO, and how to find keywords and things like that. That kind of approach will give you somewhere to stand when you ask your next set of questions. And then the answers you get will make a whole lot of sense because you will be able to add on to your knowledge instead of trying to learn everything at once.

This was just what I needed to read. What it comes down to is laser-targeted focus and taking action. There are many different ways to earn a living online, and from what I have read, it is better to become successful at one way before starting with another.
