What I have learned so far...for what it's worth

I usually don't make these kinds of posts but I have been talking to a lot of people lately and I decided to share some things about my IM journey so far....

First and foremost if you want to be successful online you have to treat it like a business. You have to work at it and work hard everyday. More importantly you have to follow through and stick it out. You have to really dedicate yourself. One of the biggest mistakes I made early on was starting one thing and before I ever saw it through I would quit and move on to the next thing. If I set up a site and did a little seo and didn't make any money right away I would go back reading and researching. I did that over and over for nearly 6 months. I spent more time reading ebooks and forums than I ever did DOING anything.

A big shift for me really came when I decided that I wasn't going to read another ebook until or watch another video until I followed all the way through with something. I did it and what do ya know I finally made some money. It wasn't a ton but it didn't matter. I knew that if I could make a little I could make a lot. I am not anywhere near where I want to be yet but I am MUCH further along after making that change.

What really helped was to become laser focused on what I was doing. I set a schedule broke down to the hour. I printed it out and taped it to the wall right in front of my face. I didn't sign on to skype or facebook or anything and I turned off my phone. Suddenly I was getting things done at an amazing rate. The point is you have to FOCUS and be dedicated to what your doing or you will continue to struggle like I did and like I know so many people are still.

The other thing is that when I first set out to become an internet marketer I thought I would surely become a millionaire right away cause I was smarter than most of the people I know. Well nothing like a good punch in the mouth to take you down a notch or two. When it comes to internet marketing there are a ton of really smart people out there competing against you. It was until I realized that fact taht I really understood what it was going to take. It's hard work and I had to learn that the hard way. You have to push yourself because it's not going to come easy like so many people think.

I wish I had some super quick and easy answer to it but the truth is there isn't one. You have work hard to get what you want in life and making money online is no different.

It's a bit late and that was a bit of a ramble but I hope it makes sense and I hope it can save some people some of the heart ache and difficulty that I went through. Best of luck to you all!

Cheers,
Neil

      It's admirable almost.

To watch noobs get their asses handed to them, slapped silly by G, buying all kinds of shady traffic/tactics, and thinking some quick trick or two in an ebook is going to solve everything - consumerism at it's peak.

      BUT

Once (if?) you get passed your initiation, kinda like getting jumped into a gang, you GET IT, you're now one of us/them/whatever, and you stop buying/reading/and loathe the thought of another .pdf for to teach you how to build a sustainable successful business and life.

Then, you somehow, start to UNlearn bad tactics and shady trails, you start to simply learn via trial and error not reading and theorizing. DO DO DO DO DO DO, FAIL FAIL FAIL - quadruple your failure rate and you'll find profit much faster too, then simply scale. (well, not 'simply', but it CAN be that easy).
I know it's strange cause how do you tell people that they are going to have to fail to succeed. Most people won't be down to go through that. I guess that is what weeds people out. I really like "the initiation". It's so true because looking back had I not gone through all of the struggles I would have never figured out so many things that I did.

you're right, you do have to love what you're doing to make it worthwhile. Otherwise it's just another job and everything will seem to be tedious hard work.
