Hey guys, I was wondering if someone knows this, and if you do you rock! Is there any kind of correlation between Alexa's ranking and Google's Pagerank? What I mean by that is that if a site on Alexa is in the top 100,000 websites, does that translate to a pagerank of 3 or 4 or whatever that might be? Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Well technically you can look at it like this. Alexa Rank is determined by how many users with the Alexa Tool Bar hit that site compared to all the other sites tracked by Alexa. The higher a Google Page Rank for a site the more likely it is going to rank higher in Google's search engine results. This means that it has the possbility to receive more traffic than other sites. This is not always the case since search engines are not the only way to drive traffic. More than not though high PR translates into high search engine traffic which in turn tranlates into more visitors with the Alexa Tool Bar hitting the site. I hope this helps. |

No intentional correlation. A high traffic site with high alexa rank, is more likely to have a decent page rank than not to... |

Thanks guys. I was thinking that was the case but I wanted to see if there is something concrete in that theory. Even better, it would be nice if there was a chart that if you are 80,000-100,000 on Alexa, then your Google pagerank should be around 4 or so. Wishes, wishes, wishes... Peter |

As mentioned earlier, the Alexa ranking is just an indication of how popular that site is amongst Alexa toolbar uses. My Free Traffic Bar has made it to 50,639 in Alexa. A somewhat useful metric, but Internet marketing sites tend to rank higher as a lot of people using the Alexa toolbar are interested in Internet marketing. | |

Google basically works off relevant links, while Alexa claims to work off the alexa toolbar and widget. So no, they are not related in anyway.
