Default Re: Word Count for Blog Posts etc.

Personally I like to keep my blog posts to a 500 word limit. This is because I like to keep the information I provide in my blog to-the-point. I want to keep people's interest and make them want to come back for more. For the most part, long blog posts detract from this.

There are times however when I have gone over my own limit and I suggest you do the same.

If you genuinely have an important piece of advice that you think everyone should know about then give your readers a detailed explanation in your blog post. hat way you are serving their best interests and this should also make them want to come back to read more.

I hope this helped, although blog post length is something that depends upon the subject matter, and how much genuinely important issues you need to bring to peoples' attention.

I'd say 500 - about a page worth - is probably the max (any bigger looks a bit daunting. But really, I agree with Mark - if it is genuinely interesting that length is not such as an issue. And if you start breaking things up with say embedded vids etc than it may actually look more approachable.

In the end you also need to think about what the blog is for and your audience - if it's about establishing yourself it probably could be longer, product reviews - short, even bullet point - unless you are relating your experience with it.

If you have a long idea or article why not break it into two parts with a teaser - then you can get revisits and double your ad exposure
