In recent posts I read:
(Facebook)new account, pages, personal account. business account, open regular facebook account and just use that for your business.
This way you keep your personal and business FB accounts separate, Fan pages, Group pages.
To a newby this is very confusing. I have 3 Facebook pages I am still not sure if I am using them for the best results.Google is getting me nowhere.
Can anybody point me to some source of information.

      Hi
When I'm studying the posts here I am confused by all the different names and descriptions of Facebook pages (see my post at top).
I want to find out how many different types of Facebook pages there are.
And what the drawbacks and benefits of each one is.
I know this is a big chunk of info to ask in a post. I have spent hours googling and on this forum trying to find out. I am now TRUTHFULLY more confused than ever. lol
Can anybody PLEASE point me towards ANY explanation.

A Facebook fan page is a Facebook fan page. Whether you set it up to promote yourself, a product, a service, a website, they all use the exact same fanpage platform - ie/ there is no difference.

What you may be talking about is often people will have two Facebook accounts. One they use for their personal life, to communicate and interact with their close friends and family. They will then open another Facebook account to use for business purposes. There is no difference between the two accounts except what they are being used for - just to keep things separate.

By doing this you won't annoy all your close friends with business related posts and vice versa.

Facebook only allow 1 account per person, everything else stems from that account. That personal account you open is capped at the amount of friends you can have.

This is why people open up fanpages, they have no limit to the amount of visitors you can have on there. Business people, "example" like people in Internet Marketing like to open these pages for business. This seperates it from your personal account. You can open as many fanpages or groups as you like.

It is not necessary to have more than one account. Facebook keeps your personal account seperate to your Facebook pages.

It is necessary if you want to keep your business and personal friends separate. I'm not talking about fan pages, I am talking about the friends you have on your profile. Often people will start a new profile in order to build up a list of targeted friends that they can later send to their fan page.

Obviously you don't want all your business related friends seeing your communications with personal friends and vice versa. For this reason you may want to run a couple of separate profiles.

Setting up these accounts like fan pages will give you more chances to connect with more people. in addition, this is also to separate your personal account from your business profile to ensure professionalism and getting better impressions from the contacts.

Thanks for all the advice. My understanding now is that I have a personal page. I can open many other additional pages. There is only one other type of page.
This can, and is, called a business, group or fan page. It doesn't matter what you call it, it is the same type of page.
On the personal/account I can only contact so many friends at a time.
On the other page I can contact them all in one go.
Is my understanding right? I already have a personal account and 2 others but could not sort out how to use them properly.
If my understanding is now correct, I can focus my research and efforts better.
Please let me know if it is correct.
    Thanks for reading this.
