I'm New To Affiliate Marketing, Any Tips?

For example, where should I first start?
I have a website that I'm working on at the moment ( soccerjaw.com ) it was meant to be a soccer blogging site just so I can get the hang of how to use Wordpress but it turns out it was harder than I thought. Also, as my second request I would like to learn how to master Wordpress and be able to make myself a nice blogging/forum site. After I make a website what's the next step? I'm thinking it would be getting traffic to my site, what would be the most effective way of doing this?

-thanks in advance for taking the time to read what I had to say.

Starting off in internet marketing and it can get overwhelming. Wordpress is easier than it looks once you get the hang of it. There are lots of tutorials online even on youtube. Traffic is always the next step after your site is done but that's where most people stop. Are there specific keywords you're trying to target for your website?

thanks for the quick reply! I haven't really thought of any specific keywords that I would consider a target for my website, but I mean the site is mostly about soccer blogging and there would be a forum added so couldn't that be like some of my keywords?

        Absolutely...

Here are some to get you started:

        Keyword_Phrase Competing_Pages Daily_Searches Expected_Daily_Clicks

        talking soccer 44900 486 209
        cornish soccer 2870 325 140
        cornish soccer forum 7240 266 115
        nc soccer forum 12900 144 62
        georgia soccer forum 4250 144 62
        ga soccer forum 11000 118 51
        texas soccer forum 45600 62 27
        lou fusz soccer 5730 62 27
        socal soccer forum 173 52 23
        sereno soccer club 9550 42 19
        massapequa soccer club 3360 32 14
        so cal soccer forum 5920 32 14
        nj youth soccer forum 21800 32 14
        north texas soccer forum 10 32 14
        massapequa soccer club 3360 32 14
        massapequa soccer shop 803 28 13
        cornwall soccer forum 47 28 13
        texas boys soccer forum 37500 28 13
        nj soccer forum 11700 23 10
        granville soccer forum 51 23 10

You could probably rank pretty easily for:
cornish soccer, cornish soccer forum, nc soccer forum, georgia soccer forum, ga soccer forum

(And that's just a quick look at "soccer forum")

Just a tip when your starting out, stick at what your doing now and don't just hop around other stuff because it is hard. When you start to jump around, you get the infamous "paralysis" from too much information.

Focus on learning wordpress first (there are tons and tons of free video/ebook about starting up a blog), then ask yourself what you really want to do with that blog (ie review soccer products? soccer match updates? player info? etc), then start to collect list from people who visit your blog by giving them free info (ebook about soccer tricks, video explaining how to get fit for soccer, soccer secret exposed, etc), after you warm up that list, you can offer whatever you feel is relevant to your topic.

The more specific you are about who your going to target, the easier it is for your to fine tune your blog and business.

This strategy is great if your planning on having a long term relationship with that list, and in my opinion the best because having a list allows you to send instant traffic to your new blog posts, and you can sell to them over and over.

Take it step by step and focus well on each step.

    We ALL started from zero!

    Hope this helped!

I have to agree with one of the previous posts about sticking at what you are doing and not hoping around. I think that's a mistake 99% of people make when they start internet marketing (me included), so if you can avoid that one you'll be ahead of the pack already. Focus on one thing at a time i.e. building your site first. Then when you are done, start doing research on keywords and then build back links that have a high quality back to your site. This will help you get ranked in Google. Once you're getting traffic, make sure you have monetized your site with either adsense or affiliate products and you should start making some money.

Yes, you have to learn the ropes first. You have to learn how WordPress works. You have to know how to install plug-ins especially the very important ones like all-in-one SEO pack and Google Site Map.

You have to learn how to do keyword research so that you can use the power of article marketing to drive natural traffic and backlinks to your site.

If you think you can't wait to learn, outsource the tasks but I would suggest that you learn the basics such as domain registration, hosting, installation of wordpress...

    Cheers.

Go with what you know. Pick a product that you actually use and benefit from.

Also, do your reading. Before you spend a single cent, know what your plan is from start to finish.

Be careful on information overload, though. Don't change your whole strategy overnight because you saw some other guy do something. Use your own two hands, and learn what works for you.

Once you're profitable, take your methods, and duplicate them. Over and over.

Don't just read. Learn! Then plan on how to execute. Finally, act on or execute the plan.

Information overload is the bad child of just reading and reading without learning, planning and implementing what has been learned.

My advice is...prepare to be frustrated, go through a lot of trial and error, lose money, get more frustrated, fail again... Then, if you keep at it, you'll make your first sale and it will feel like the most proud pennies you've ever earned.

If you want traffic, the best way would be article marketing since it's free and remember to stay away from PPC like adwords.

I think I can give some advice on where to start..

        1) Focus: Like everyone has been hammering to you, focus only on one strategy. You having your website is a great start. Seems like its something that you passionate about, so keep at it.

        2) Do important stuff everyday: This is easy to do if you are focused. The trick here is trying to differentiate between important work and busy work.
Right now, I think the most important thing you can do is add content to your site. Don't bother quite yet with getting the site look great. You can improve that with time.
The second thing you can do is learn wordpress a little bit everyday. Learn only the stuff that you will use at the moment.

3)Learn traffic: This is your bloodline to your income. Learn as many traffic methods as you can. Start with free traffic methods like SEO, and move on to the paid ones like PPC.

4)Do not stop: You will find yourself overwhelm at some point, but do not stop. The only way you can fail is quitting.

Btw Fino, if you want to learn how I quickly setup my wordpress site, you can PM me.

        Good luck.

He won't hop around if he Loves what he is doing! Success comes only from failing, and failing again and it can seem like an endless cycle for the newcomer.

If WordPress is your thing, learn everything about how to use it! Sure, it may very well become overwhelming the first few weeks but give it a year to all sink in and you'll be a Pro. Don't rush it. Your brain can only take so much punishment daily.

Firstly you should have to build up your confidence that you can do it and secondly keep patience.
As you are a new comer so you should pay more attention on the keyword research.Try to gather minimum 500 keywords.
Next you would look over of the several affiliate programs and determine which offer the best products, payouts etc.Try to make your articles easier and informative.
    Finally keep updating your site.
    Wish you all the Best.

Familiarize yourself in the niche you are in right now. Yes do pick your keywords right now and install the appropriate plug-in for your site. Its not really hard, really.

First off, take the time to learn wordpress, even if it takes you a week to do this, close out as many applications as possible, open only the few like youtube etc that can guide you through the procees of learning it.

Driving traffic can be done in many forms, as a beginner start article marketing, leave comments on other related blogs, open a twitter account where you can link back to your site from there, use forums to link to your site (always read the rules of any forum) facebook can be so targeted but will need to be learned also. These are all free methods, you can use paying methods but you have to know a lot about that.

Yes the paid methods can be instant, but if you're a beginner I'd leave it for now, at least till you learn the process. Good luck

Wordpress really isnt that hard to use. Since there are several hundred themes you can choos from it is normally just a matter of knowing where to install everything and how you would like your site to preform. I have always been a fan of the when in dout outsource method. Howeve if you do not have the funds to do so then you will need to learn everything and start making money first so that you can.

Now if you would like some fee training head on over to my site Secrets To The Affiliate Marketing Online World Revealed - Massive Marketers You will get the first week of our training free. However there is actually 5 full weeks of training. Best of luck to you hope this helps.

Wow, I was pretty shocked to see all these replies, I wasn't expecting to see this many helping hands. Thanks everyone for reaching out to a newbie, so as I understood right I should first make my website and use keywords, then start learning how to bring traffic oh, and never give up! I'm actually not very worried about making money right now, I feel like I'm at a perfect time to risk, fail and learn. Therefore, I wanted to make this blogging soccer site first as a trial and error type thing then eventually start a bigger project from there. I'm really glad I stumbled into this site, seems like I will be learning a lot from here.

    Hey Fino
    Nice to meet you.
I started from 0 knowledge on internet marketing just a little less than 2 months ago.
But I've now earned about $210. And from what I see and read here looks like I got to earn money pretty quickly. Some people seem to not earn anything even with 6 months.

So here's my tips for you.
I personally am really busy everyday following up the studying in my engineering college. THerefore I only spend about 3-4 hours a day on Internet marketing. The reason why I could spend so much time was because I was really interested and enjoyed internet marketing. So you need to enjoy the fact that you are going to earn money with IM first of all.

Secondly, I invested in some of the WSO's here on warrior forum. Do not use your money on any "Get rich quickly with a click" kind programs. You need to put the input work there to achieve anything.

And first of there's a lot of methods to earn money online, affiliate marketing, writing articles, cpa, etc etc. I myself only know bout affiliate marketing.

But choose one style that you like.
And then invest in one of the wso's in the special offers forum. One with LOts of GOOD reviews, and one that is more than $50. Not saying that the cheapers ones are not valueable. But the more expensive ones tend to be more fully detailed for newbies to understand easily.

And after that. Stick to that single WSO and that single method until you actually earn anything. Don't turn your back or look at other methods before you earn anything from that method.

I'm sorry I don't have the time to organize this post a little better, but if you follow what I said I'm thinking you might earn more than me in the same time as me. (2 months)

    Regards,
    Isac

You always have to remember that you are going to make money from selling, not buying so do not buy the next best thing. Buy only what you can use right now and as much as possible, buy related products which enhance your business. Stick to one thing until you make it work before you diversify. Above all, make sure that every day, you do something that makes you money, for example posting stuff on your sites and driving traffic instead of spending your days reading emails about new and exciting stuff. This will only distract you. It may take a while to make money but do not ever consider giving up.
