Too long by almost 29 minutes. You might get by with a 2 minute video maybe 3, but unless it is very entertaining you are going to get into page abandonment issues.

I personally like video sales pages that support the words but you are giving an entire presentation here.

      Haha, love it!

Yeah it is a proper presentation...

Could you post or PM a few sales video examples that you thought were great? I'd be forever grateful.

I see lots of marketers using 30 minute videos to EXPLAIN their product. Nothing out of the ordinary here. If I was interested in your product and the video supported my curiousity I would watch it.

And, as JMichaelZ mentioned, "unless it is very entertaining you are going to get into page abandonment issues", so I hope you kept that in mind.

Bottom line...you need to test this version out.

If you want you can send me a link to the video and I'll be happy to give you a review of the video. (I don't need the product, I'm only offering a review of the video )

I would also try to make a very condensed version just for good measure and as something to test the long version against.

  • My sales videos are long as hell too, and they convert well. Check one my sites to see a sample of my sales videos: Automated Webinar Generator .

I'm preparing a new product with a 25 minute sales video, and I think it will convert like candies.

30 minutes might be a little long. It's really hard to say if this would convert well, as I've noticed a trend away from these longer videos. Are you also providing sales copy on the page for the prospect to read, or is this purely a sales video page?

At the end of the day, the only way to know for sure is to split-test that against another version of your video (perhaps a condensed one that is 5 minutes or less), and to see which converts better.

I go through every section of the product and explain it. I know I'd watch a video like that, but I'm a tech junkie so yeah...

This is my weak point. I'm not a sales person in any way, shape or form.

If you want you can send me a link to the video and I'll be happy to give you a review of the video.
Awesome! Will do - once I get it sorted out. I'm still not happy about it atm, bah.

That's a slick sales video... I would pay someone to create one for me, but since I will be hosting a lot of webinars and providing video tutorials to people - I'm not sure if having someone else do a video would be a good thing.

Yup, full sales copy. I'm thinking to leave the video out of the main sales page or embed it right at the bottom... or just give people a link to it with a disclaimer or something.

Yeah that's what I intend to do, BUT... since I have full sales copy anyways, the condensed version would (pretty much) be a video version of the sales page, which seems a bit meh to me - maybe I'm wrong.

Ok, now that we've established it has full length sales copy, you could probably just use it as-is and see what type of conversions you get. The people who don't want to view that lengthy video can read the sales page instead, and everyone's happy.

I'd still put your sales video at the top though, so it's immediately apparent to people who like sales videos that you have one.

          Thanks Paulie!

          So far my options are:

          1. Full sales copy with a link to my 30 minute video at the bottom (perhaps as a P.S. thing) - they'd watch it on a different page with a "buy now" button right below the video.

          2. Full sales copy with the video embeded at the top (no auto play).

          3. Same as #2 but video embeded at the bottom.

          I'm over-thinking this... again.

I would do a test if you are able to. Record 2 videos one long and one short and see what sales page gives you the better conversions.

Will you have the video auto play or have something that says like click here to learn more about the product? If you give the user the option to watch the video or not this might make it better cause only those interested in the video will then watch it, and those not interested will then just read your sales copy.

Me personally I don't like watching a long "sales" video. However if the video is informational and I learn something I don't mind watching a video 20 minutes or so long.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have made a decision to go with full length sales copy only and leave video out for now. Going to split test the video stuff a little bit later.
