Blog? Personal? Business? Help!

Hey guys!

So I have my product rolling out soon (I am getting the initial prototypes soon and will need to modify and such before getting them all made) but I wanted to begin building a list and generating traffic within my target niche. It just so happens that I LOVE to write and have been dieing to get a blog going. My focus on the blog will be crossfit, diet, and individualism. My target niche is crossfit, individualism is a common trait on among crossfitters and I feel it will give a whole different appeal compared to other crossfit blogs that can get very boring.

Heres the thing. I am not mentioning my product yet, and will link this blog to the homepage for my product once I get that page and the product live. For now its just a blog. Heres the thing, some people tell me I shouldnt mix personal blog with business. Personal being my advice for crossfit, diet, and motivational individualism stuff, and business being the product (for crossfitters) I will come out with soon.

So I guess my question is, should I continue with the blog? Or do you think there will be some problems once the product comes out?

Thanks!

  • Make sure you're building a list from people visiting the blog.

Use the list to announce your new blog posts, and occasionally mention affiliate products. Then subtly mention your new product to the list a few times to whet their appetite.

Keep the product promotion primarily on the list, and then you won't have any problems with it on the blog.

Yeah build a list from your blog, and when you make broadcasts, try to aim for 4-5 content emails per offer or sales email. Nothing makes me unsubscribe faster from a list than offer after offer. Super annoying.

You can always keep your blog... You can use it as source of your daily readers and you can turn them into profits.

It would be a good idea to keep your blog, especially since writing is something that you like to do.

A lot of internet markets feel that you have to do this, or you have to do that, but you can’t do both. That is not true.

The bottom line is you need to do whatever works for you. If the blog is working for you then why get rid of it?

That being said, it won’t be helpful to keep a blog just for the fun of it.

Find a way to really implement it into your overall strategy. A lot of great ideas were posted, try out a few of them and see if they work for you.

Keep the blog. I have to strongly disagree with the advise you were given.

That being said, is there a way for you to integrate the blog into a membership type place where people can interact. If these people are so unique, maybe building a forum type place where they can interact with each other would be a good thing. It would also be a great way to build a mailing list, as you the admin can send emails to everyone.

Either way that is a just an idea off of the top of my head. Building a health/fitness niche membership website can also be worth a lot of money down the road.

Good Luck with your product launch.
