Hello,

I've recently started a proofreading business, it's going well so far. I've taken out an ad on warrior forums which has lead to a good few sales, I'm just not securing enough custom fast enough.

I've written around 20 articles to try and promote my business and build some backlinks. This hasn't been very successful but I think that is mainly down to the fact of poor keyword research.

So I'm looking for something new, I've seen Clickbank mentioned on a few threads, just wondering if I could offer a service instead of just promoting a product? Also, is everything handled via PayPal?

Cheers,
Jake.

The best information about Clickbank is Clickbank themselves. Go there and you'll probably find everything you're looking for. All my payments from Clickbank are by cheque or as they say in the States "check".

As far as I know Clickbank is only for promoting digital online products instead of services but I agree you should go to clickbank.com to inquire. Best of luck!

Yes, you can, in principle. There are many services sold on Clickbank.

However, it may not necessarily be the best place for you, unless you really want affiliates? And the payment-processing charges come to about 9%, too.

Selling a product "on Clickbank" doesn't magically produce customers. Your sales page is still on your own site (the payment page is on theirs), and you still have to promote your product/service yourself (whether to customers or to affiliates).

No. Clickbank pays vendors (and affiliates) their first two payments by cheque, after which you can switch to direct deposit into your bank (as long as you're in a country where they offer that service, but the UK is one of those).

Customers can pay Clickbank by PayPal (or by credit-card) for purchases, but this is a different matter.

Thanks for all the information everyone. Although, by the sound of things I think Alexa is right, I don't think Clickback is my best option.

I've tried many luck with clickbank through PPC advertising, and never get any sales. Seems like Clickbank is not for everyone. I still don't know how can someone get hundred even thousands dollar everyday. Can anyone tell me about how these people doing this?

They're mostly very well-known, reliable vendors who have gradually built up a good and successful reputation over many years, and they typically have joint-venture partners and a group of "superaffiliates" who have enormous lists: the bulk of their products' early sales usually come from email marketing.

One has to "interpret" (i.e. guess), a little bit, because sales figures for individual products are not disclosed by Clickbank and (apart from misinformed people who imagine that there's a good correlation between "gravity" and sales numbers), nobody can actually tell for sure what a product's sales volume is.

Everything isn't quite what it "instinctively appears" to be, with Clickbank: some of the very low gravity products can actually sell enormous numbers without their gravities rising at all. My own two best-selling and highest-converting products both have gravities around 5 but actually steadily sell more copies than many products with 3-figure gravities.

A proof-reading business?! C'mon, first impressions last. Based on your first post I would not be in a hurry to have you proof read anything. No offense, but that's like telling me you have just started a SPELLCHEQUE company.

For your proofreading business, have you thought about going over to Freelance Switch and putting in an advertisement?

He has a point, actually, Jake: especially if you're advertising in this forum (as you mentioned), it'll help you to post impeccably!

I don't think Clickbank is the place to market your services, you have to be where your customers look.

I would suggest this place, craigslist, freelancer, elance and some of the foreign job sites where you might post that you offer a superior service for a few dollars more.

Then it come does to the old grind, write some articles on ezine, hubpages and squidoo about why proofreading is so critical, your unique selling points and the risks of outsourcing abroad.

Then it comes to backlinking, the best way to do this is to crawl all the SEO sites and make appropriate and relevant comments within their comments. Make sure your profile includes a link to your site and then start each post "I run a professional proofreading site and I find that blah blah blah, where blah is the comment that is relevant to the blog or forum. Set yourself a goal to make 5 posts a day and you will pretty soon have a lot of organic links. If you subscribe to someone like Scott Fox, in addition to his autoresponders he will send you a weekly mail with a link page for comments. Work out his regular send time and make sure you post something quickly so that when others who read later in the day go they will see your post.

You can do the same on YouTube, books about proofreading or building a website etc on Amazon which you can review.

Obviously your own blog with social networking are essential for them them to be sold, make sure you offer something for a registration. For example a free PDF with your 20 top do's and don'ts about website creation or proofreading.

Had a look at your site and it seems to be aimed at students so adapt my previous advice for your market. Students spend half their life on facebook so make sure you are on there, look at the uni sites and contribute to their sites, create links to all the Uni's and ask each uni webmaster if they will include a link to your site. One thing students do that most do not is follow people who follow them so follow them and all their friends.
