Product Owners: What is your Landing Page?

Hello Warriors,

I have a question. What is your handing page like? Say your landing page is example.com. Do you have a direct sales page or do you have a free opt-in page and you later sell the product?

I have seen some products like become a blogger, rapid video blogging etc following this format.

Which do you think works? I know list building is important. I am planning to make the main domain a sales page and an inner page the squeeze page.

What are your thoughts?

I'm increasingly looking toward product landing pages. Right now, we don't do as good as I would like in this area, and it is on my agenda for 2011.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

The idea behind a "squeeze page" is to leave the prospect no other option but to opt-in for more info about the product. Just reel them in, then start the selling process. My landing pages are always on the domain, but it depends on your market. Test

Might as well test.... The product is getting ready... So should I build a squeeze page on the domain home page and when the product is ready (in a month or two), then redesign the site and send fresh leads?

I don't know what you're trying to do, but off the top of my head I would say just start now building your site, and getting subscribers. Then by the time your product is ready you'll have a targeted and warmed up prospect base.

Do you think that the diet industry is overly saturated and we need to first create a blog, establish credibility and start selling?

Not at all, maybe but there are also many other options, certainly, that's the idea.

I see that on your landing page... So do you sell your product through emails? Your product is not an ebook right? So will your model work best for an ebook?

Well I would say if you are starting out pick a "out of the box" niche and go DEEP to find something without alot of competition. This will make things much easier. I would also suggest you have a presell page with a good quality freebie with a opt in box, capture the email, then sell them. Really depends on the product and target market though.

The target market is DIET and the target audience is WOMEN and TEENS

I already have a freebie ready. Anyway I am not going the blog route and try to sell someone else's product when my sister has the ability and credibility to sell her own.

We are planning to launch an ebook on diet with a special bonus which hasn't been offered by any diet programs online yet.

I am capitalizing on that special bonus to stand out from the crowd. Right now, my plan is to drive traffic to a free report by guest posting and building some list...

Some of my landing pages are just one sales letter with the buy button at the end, but I'm getting into doing short (like 1-2 minute) video and an opt in form. I personally think a video with a person converts better than the slide show type video with words and/or pics.

I tend to create several different "entry points" for each product.

So, there could be a squeeze page that leads to a free report or video, plus a webinar for the product plus a "normal" sales-page.

No reason to stick to just one.

With webinar, do you mean a video sales page?

No, I mean doing a webinar where I introduce the product. I invite my subscribers to that webinar.

I don't like pitch-fests, so when I do a webinar, it's usually a pretty laid-back kind of thing where I give out some really good information and just talk about what I have to offer to those who want to learn more. I've gotten extremely good feedback from doing this. I believe it's probably because a webinar like this is less of a hard-sell than a sales-page and it's something where the attendees can ask questions directly and dicuss things before they decide whether or not to buy.

I also posted a webinar invitation as a WSO, a while back. That was for an info-webinar, with no product pitching at all. If I recall correctly, about 60 people signed up, so I'd say I got my money's worth.

    Direct sales page.

My copy converts so well that in my market it'd be crazy not to let people see it first.

But then again I do not sell hype, smoke, and mirrors and my target market is mostly savvy professionals and successful business owners who don't respond well to being "squeezed."

Do you think the diet industry loves to be on the list and then sold?

They are possibly not as likely as people in the B2B and internet marketing world to have squeeze pages shoved in their face all day every day causing them to put throw away or fake emails in the form just to glance at a sales offer that they are merely researching about.

But for a webinar, we need a user base.... What should we do if we have no user base?

Yeah, if you have no user-base a webinar is not an optimal entry point. Having said that, I started out doing webinars where only 5-20 people attended and it's actually a pretty good way to learn the ropes.

The point I originally wanted to make was simply this: Use multiple entry points for your products. A webinar doesn't have to be one of them. If you have a sales-page for your product, it can't hurt to also have a squeeze page with a giveaway and maybe a video or two on Youtube (that lead to a squeeze page, maybe) and whatever else you can think of.

To me, it's just important that there's more than one way for my prospects to approach my product. Also consider that many "browse" before making a decisiong. So, they might see you sales-page and hesitate. Then they google the product name or your name. If they find some more stuff like a video, a blog, a free product etc. that increases the chances of them eventually finding their way back to your product and making a purchase.

I know that I have made quite a few sales from people searching for more info on my stuff. Some customers have even expressly told me that they found a video or a blog post that then convinced them I was a "good guy" and that they could buy a product from me with confidence.

Thats a great share Shane.... So establishing credibility is a key.. That I knew.. I was planning on establishing credibility through

    1. YouTube videos
    2. Free report
    3. Ezine articles.
    4. Guest blogging

However, I am NOT planning the blogging route... Do you think I should take any other approach?

Looks good to me. Maybe add a few of the articles to scribd as well.

You don't need a blog, but one thing worth considering is having a "home base" for your business. Even if it's just a few pages about you and your business, without it being a sales-page.
It depends on how far you want to go with this, of course. If this is just about creating one product for a bit of cash, then don't bother with most of this and just concentrate on getting affiliates.

If this is the foundation of a larger, long-term business, then go all out with the different entry points.

      Hi,

Thanks for the quick note.... We are not focusing on more product creation... We will be stopping with this one... Our aim is to make around 10000$ and then give away this ebook for FREE!!!

Right. In that case, my approach would be: Make sure the sales-page converts well and focus all of your efforts on getting affiliates. 10K can be as little as getting one or two "big" affiliates to promote the product and then you're done.

Is there any such affiliates in the health industry??? I mean those who can send in leads like that???

I have currently written the script for the video sales letter and given it to a copywriter for critique...

            Sure there are.
I have been in the health and wellness industry for over 22 years and just like anywhere else yes their are players with lists.

My deal is direct them to your sales copy. Make your sales copy so good that it's a no brainer. They can't hit the buy button fast enough.

Then you have a list of buyers not tire kickers who got a freebie off you.

It depends on the market or product. I believe that if you want to build a list in the niche, you should really have some content with email capture features. However, if you are selling one product from amazon for example, you may not want to build a list, but simply pre-sell the product effectively.

There's not really any magic words or graphics you can put on a page to have insane conversion rates. I think the biggest part of whether a site converts or not is whether you've built a site with relevant information that people are looking for.

On my best site, I just have an aWeber form within the content on the homepage, and it has an overall email submit rate of 17%. I think thats pretty good.

But if we have a sales page, then there cant be any useful content other than the product itself right??? If it was a blog, then it would be meaningful to expect that
