Help with getting started

Hello, I'm new to the whole internet marketing thing and with all the stuff floating around it's bit too confusing.

What type of internet marketing style is for me? Article writing/blogging is probably my best bet but there might be other things people know that I haven't seen yet.
I have:
Zero start up money (I have no money of my own)
No experience in HTML/website building
and due to circumstances I have no taxid/ssn (so I'm guessing CPA stuff is out) and prefer payments with paypal.

I learned quite a bit lurking here and exploring the site but I don't know too much of the specifics.

My interest is videogaming competitively/just gaming in general.

Thanks for reading.

edited out unnecessary bits

Let me get this straight... you have 0 money and you're pretty much a lazy person but you're wiling to work for it?

Making "easy" money isn't that easy if you don't have any capital to start, do you have any money to at least get a website or domain name?

I try to help new people in Internet Marketing but it seems like you want to make it work from scratch. Looks like one of your options will be to market a product on Facebook or Twitter.

I apologize for coming off as whiny or overly negative.
I just wanted to know what options are available to me with my current position.
I also want to just experiment and get at least a small amount of experience without investing, if that makes sense/is possible.

you can always start out with article marketing at ezinearticles.com; get a .info domain name($2) and direct your traffic to your affiliate links through that. I'm sure you can find a free hosting that can suit your needs.

there's no other known way you can start up even cheaper than this..

I would suggest not "starting out" w/anything UNTIL you formulate some basic skills. IM can take you in soooo many directions, I found the most success using laser targeted focus in one direction.

Try starting out with something like challenge.co, or something similar so that you can form a basic understanding of whats going on. After 1 month of study you will have a much clearer picture of the path you wish to pursue. With this basic education you can return here and ask specific questions on how to proceed in your chosen "direction".

      Hi kwazi,

You can make money online, however you need to pick which style of Internet Marketing fits you since you know yourself better than anyone on this forum.

But going off of facts that you have given us: no money, no experience; I’d say that blogging would be a good place for you to start.

The beauty of blogging is that you can incorporate a number of different Internet Marketing strategies.

It is a good way to experiment and make mistakes while learning the ropes and making money at the same time.

That part right there could eliminate you from almost everything except selling your own product or service.

If you are living in the USA without a Tax ID/SSN you would be asking most affiliate networks to break the law to allow you to sell for them.

Technically, you would be breaking the law selling your own products or services without having a Tax ID/SSN since you need to report your income.

    Lecture over....

Since you need to learn basic skills first do take the recommendation which was given to check out Ed Dale's Challenge. It is excellent training for beginners at:

    The Challenge

Another series of videos I thought were very good for beginners are from Travis Sago (of Bum Marketing Fame) which is called Project Mom. You can find it here:

Watch Us Put Clickbank Checks In Mom's Mailbox (From Start To Finish)

I'd highly recommend you attempt to fix your Tax ID/SSN problem rapidly, though.

    Best wishes,

    Barry

      Hi
I don't think gaming will help that much , i can advice you , it is good to ask about what are the 1st steps , i recommend you to look for forums and specially blogs to read people's articles ! try to work for people ( be hired from someone) so you learn about this more . ARticle writing is a good way by the way , give it a try

I would suggest to start by learning new skills. And you are already in the place to learn and best of all it is FREE
Once you have skills and you can do work for other people for example write articles, build websites etc then you will have a steady income.

BUT I also agree with Barry -- fix the tax ID problem first!!

If you are from the US chances are then you have at least the SSN part. This is because it is given to you relatively right after birth. I am not sure how this is handled in other countries, but I do know that this is easy to get in the US.

As for what you should try first. Start with blogging. Learn keyword research and how to find a niche and/or micro niche. Then build sites on blogger. Build a few squidoo lenses and hubpages with links to your blog.

Learn SEO to get organic traffic from the search engines. Do not expect immediate results because it take a bit of time to get things rolling and start making real money . But, it has been done. You will need more than one blog.

Depending on where you live, you need to make approx. $50,000 a year just to get by. This can happen with blogging, but it will take time.

Wouldn't it be better to link the Squidoo lenses and hubpages to the selling website??

Since you have no money to start with, try the free methods - i suggest bum marketing(kind of like article marketing). Get a free blog(blogger/wordpress), register with clickbank and pick a product to promote, then write articles about it through article directories. When you have made some money you need to invest it in getting your self a 'real estate' - YOUR OWN PERSONAL WEBSITE

The key is finding your market, a problem or desire and something they want or are already buying.

Then you can think about marketing.

I would start out by looking closely at authority sites are doing with the gaming market...what are the top sites and how are they monetizing that market?

Do they sell ebooks, subscriptions to a membership site, ads (PPC, CPA), their own services, etc...?

Research is required on the front end of any business to understand a) Your market and b) what they want bad enough to buy

If you know your product I would recommend article marketing. It is free to start all you need is time and know your product.
