What area should I target?

What do you guys think would be better in IM terms to target such as .coms in google etc (the world) or smaller such as your country like .co.uk .fr etc

Obviously there are advantages and disadvantages of each such as probably easier to rank for country specific, less competition. but it will be a smaller market etc...

I think the non-English markets are underserved and far less competitive.

If you are fluent in a language other than English, why can't you do both? Set up a .COM and then translate the content to a site that is more country-specific. Best of both worlds!

I always get .com's, .net's, or .org's. Never tried to push a domain for uk but it could be worth a shot.

Well it depends a lot on the topic. If you are talking about something that is relevant to any audience then .com. If your topic is about something that makes more sense in a local market then go with that.

And yeh, if you speak other languages; why not build 2 or more sites, targetting each language?
