Amusing spammy blog comment

Just had this comment left on a post about the bass guitar:

"I found myself grinning into the saucepan of vegetables cooking on the stovetop for no reason other than my happiness was overflowing."

Made me laugh out loud - thought I would share!

I've been getting the usual comments about viagra and other meds (funny considering I have a freelance writing blog) but I would say the veggies comments takes the cake!

Makes you wonder what the idiots behind these kind of auto links are trying to achieve - do they think people will leave them up?

these guys are unbelievable; but it really makes me wonder.. where does all this persistence come from ? I mean.. they must be getting SOME results.. or else.. they enter the definition of insanity:

"insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"..

Of course they are getting some result. That's
      why they continue,

If they were only losing time/money they won't
still be at it. Like another warrior here said,
many people don't spend time enough on their
sites, so they just approve such comments
      without thought.

Surely if enough people mark these comments as spam then Aksimet will start automatically marking them as spam for everyone?

Unfortunately these blog spamming tools allow the spammers to post a different random comment to each blog, and to use proxies, which somewhat reduces the ability of Akismet to identify them. Though you are right, if they post too many their IP address/es get/s blacklisted - I have seen BlueFartters (<-- never typed that here before, love the word replacement, he he) complaining that Wordpress blogs are very hard to post comment spam to. But an initial few always get through.

Thanks for letting us know that - I always mark people like this as spam. Hopefully enough people will do so that the Wordpress platform stays pretty clean.

That's hilarious! Was the whole thing hyperlinked or just a couple of words?

Nope - that was the comment itself. The hyperlinked words were 'webcam girs.'

I get this sort of comment "Wonderful post. Keep up the good work!", and the comment has been left on my Privacy Policy page!

Makes you wonder why they do it - there must still be a lot of blogs out there that don't have moderated comments.

Still, when my happiness is overflowing I often feel the urge to tell the world about it in a language in which I am not well versed. Like English.

On that note I find it amusing when you find a list from which to choose your language and two of the options are English and English (UK). lol

This isn't a funny blog post but this was a genuine email I received that was mean't to make me buy a certain dubious product.

      This thread
explains all, it will make the spammy comments make more sense though.

Perhaps we could start a new website "Please Spam Me".
Then we could monetize the site by collecting the funniest spam comments, put them in an ebook - "World's Funniest Spam", hold a contest for the funniest spam ever - Grand Prize: 1,000,000 DoFollow blog posts or a "Spam Away" cruise to the spam capital of the world (?).

Though common, I normally receive the, oh wow, this is great information, thanks for the great post.

Or, this was great. Thanks for sharing.

People have a propensity for using the word "great" it seems. However, if a comment is funny enough, I'm more than happy to leave it to reward creativity.

Unfortunately this strategy IS working - some quite reputable-looking sites, when you look at their backlink profiles, have got where they are with these random spammy comments (using Xrumer, or if not 3rd- party 'SEO services' who do). All too many of these 'comments' are staying up. Why, I don't know, I terminate them with extreme prejudice but I guess if you fire off a few thousand some are bound to stick...

Google the text of that comment. It is actually scraped from some short story. I THOUGHT it sounded like someone trying to be poetic

      I did.

First result was this thread on Warrior Forum!

And third or fourth result was indeed a short story on a site called Literotica.com. I originally thought it was some weird cross between bad translation and article spinning.

The other day I got an email informing me of a new comment to approve... I read it, it was about Black Ops, good comment, no spelling errors... except the comment about Black Ops (xbox 360 game) was on a post about We Rule (iPhone Game) so go and figure! Maybe I should find myself "grinning into the saucepan of vegetables cooking on the stovetop" a bit more often lol

Coffee in the mornings is a must! Work sometimes demand that I tweet, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. I Hunt and Shoot Aliens as therapy a few hours every day. I am experimenting with healthy eating, and I enjoy LIFTING apart from tennis, which I have loved from goddess knows when. Apart from Coffee, I love cheeses and wine, as French do.

There are funny spammers. And there are 'honest' spammers who admit that they are commenting just to get a link Google this: "I just want to get a backlink from you"

    Cheers!

The post made my day. Its not often that we read a poetic comment like that. A spam comment usually takes no effort at all. Especially when they say 'Good post!"
