eBooks - Before or After having a following?

Hi All,

I was wondering if it is smarter to get a following of a niche before or after writing an ebook.

Also, If you already have an ebook created, whats the fastest way to turn a profit from it?

Thanks in advance!

I have written multiple books. And in most cases I wrote the books for lead generation purposes...not to sell.

My suggestion is if you want to create a list and a following is to write a simple ebook or report and give it away to build your list. Then find out what your list wants and create products around that ie. more ebooks, videos, courses, done for them marketing, software, tools, coaching etc.

If you have already written the ebook and want to monetize it there are all kinds of ways you can do that. This forum will give you more ideas and methods to do that than I could even begin to list here. But here are just a few ideas.

    - Amazon - hard copy and ebook
    - Article marketing
    - PPC
    - JV
    - Classifed ads
    - Forums
    - PR
    - Affiliate programs such as Clickbank

Write it first and then create a following who are prepared to take out their credit card using that ebook.

Don't write it until you know who it's for and what they want.

    Are you confused yet?

The answer is - it depends on what you do with it and who your target audience are.

They probably already have access to all the information they need so it's worth making sure you know what they want before you waste any time.

A good idea is to break into the niche first. Make some quality teaser ebooks and give them away for free to build up a list and following. That way when you have your real ebook ready you will have people lined up to pay for it.

I was wondering whether it is smarter to buy chickens first, or eggs.

Thanks for the info, sounds like when selling a product the best method is to have a well focused list. just like every one says, "get a list"

Who cares if you have a following or not.

The time to write an eBook is when you have something of value to offer, regardless of your following.
