I'm trying to set up my payment on a product to just go through paypal however a lot of people dont click the thing that says "return to merchant" after they have paid. I then get an e-mail from them asking how to access the product.

Is there a way to have paypal automatically redirect them back to the site after payment has been made or what? I've looked all through the settings but just feel like I'm missing something.

Thanks.

You can use a script like DLGuard, which sends them an email with the download link, even when they didn't follow the instructions.

PayPal does have an autoreturn feature, but I think that will send people to the same page regardless of what they bought.

I don't know of any way to avoid customers having to click the 'return to merchant' button. I frequently put a note right under the order button on my sales page that says "Please Be Sure to Click "Return to Merchant" After Your Purchase to be Directed to the Download Page."
