Methods of growing targeted fb fanbase

Hi guys

I've seen occasionally people selling targeted facebook fans here and on a couple other forums.

I dont deal too much w/social media but my experiment is to gain/engage a targeted fanbase for my company's Facebook page, oriented around travel.

Like everyone else I'm limited in terms of time and resources here, or I would do the most obvious thing and start participating in more conversations/seeking out influencer types and trying to form relationships.

Unfortunately I can't so I wondered if anyone has any tips, ethical/less ethical both fine, just as long as whatever method won't p*ss the potential new page fan off - eg buying fans; good places to buy, or apps that you've found useful for page promo, anything that sorta boosts things??

    To be honest.. this is not not proven result,this is just my idea..
    my idea is to exploit Google trends.. pick one of them, and then create an ads based on that trends.
    for example. few days ago there was an hoax that said Facebook is shutting down on March 15th.. so what you have to do is create an ads with attractive title such as.. "is Facebook shutting down?" or something else, I believe you can make it better than me..
    From that ads I predict you have a lot of more click because that topic is hot. Don't forget to direct your viewers to click "like button" before they read that facebook news..

      If you are not willing to put time and resources into building a legitimate fanbase, do you really think that people that go to your fanpage are not going to know?

      It sounds like you already know what to do, why not just go do that strategy that will get you real fans instead of trying to get a bunch of fake fans who in all likelihod are not going to care about your page anyway?

        I agree with you JMichaelZ. The OP just missed the whole concept of Social networking.

          You say you don't have time to engage in conversations/ build relationships. What you are saying with that kind of statement is that FB is not your priority. I hope this is because your customers are not on FB (although hard to believe). If your customers are on FB than it would make perfect sense to give FB enough priority for you to engage in conversations and build relationships. You will notice that your current customers are pleased to be able to interact with you on a platform they know and use, whereas you will also attract new customers...

    -- totally understand, i do not want to 'cheat' or the service wont be effective. what im saying is that this is a sort of venture in order to look in the future at offering Social Media stuff to clients, one of the things they will be interested in is help with growing their fan base.

    Therefore, in future this will be something we're not just doing for us but as a service for lots of others, so if there are any efficient standard processes that are either time/cost saving, but still ethical, these are really valuable as they'll drive costs down for us and customers.. so this was what i was trying to ask for at this point.

    Well, it wasn't free but I used Facebook Ads for 3 weeks at 2 bucks a day to my fan page and over tripled my fan base from about 90 to 287.

    I spent exactly $50 bucks that I got from an ad credit for setting up hosting with GoDaddy. I set the cost per click at almost 2 bucks then 3 days in, I got it down to 9 cents a click. I sent all the traffic to my fan page with a welcome tab and welcome video. I stopped using the ads now though.

    It worked out pretty well and now I get fans daily. I post one thing per day and syndicate my blog. Hopefully this helps.

      Thanks Gabriel this is really helpful. It might sound a stupid question but can I ask, how much experience do you need w/Facebook ads to make them work for you like they did here?

      I suppose you need less persuasion in your ad if the purpose is to get people to just click a like button, and not actually convince people to make any purchases

      But what was the incentive for people to actually like your page, or did you lean less on the actual ad and more on a lot of impressions using a good keyword strategy or something?

      NikkiDelgado I think that's a great idea and see you have almost used the sig readers' desire to see information as a reason to visit (the payment proofs), but, my company offers website design and print design which are boring So that approach might be hard.

    The link in my signature is what I use to build my FB account, fan pages groups etc. The method is fast, easy, and targeted. I have excellent conversion rates for several different products and this can work for you whatever niche you are in.
