Good or bad - Two Twitter accounts (one personal, one business)

Hi, there,

I'm just starting to explore social media for my marketing efforts and customer connection channels.

I'm an author with a pretty niche subject matter that seemed like it could be it's own separate twitter userid, with me having a seaparte one of just "me, the person" instead of the subject.

Does this seem above board? Legit? Scummy to twiter users?

If I can tweet things subject-specific (tips & tricks & stuff) it seems I should have a twitter account just for that material.

What do you all think?

Thanks so much,

- Paul

    Hi Paul,

Go for it. I have a couple of domains and a different twitter account for each.

You can use HootSuite to keep yourself organized.

I have several Twitter accounts that focus on different niches.
It makes absolute sense to have several if that is the case.

I agree. Use different Twitter accounts for different niches. If this was not the right approach, Twitter apps like HootSuite and Tweetdeck wouldn't be so popular.

Using different twitter accounts for different niches is great but managing it might be a big problem.

    Thanks very much, everyone.

For you that have multiple accounts...you're not using a pen-name over different accounts, right?

I think it is okay as long as twitter will not ban you.

Its fine. This is what marketers usually do anyway. This is the same thing as Facebook accounts where you will want to separate your personal account from your business account.

I am with just about everyone else on this matter. I have had better luck when I use different twitter accounts per niche. I also have about 10 seperate accounts per domain. However most of my twitter presence is 100% automated there are still those occassional tweets I make that are seperate from my niches so I needed a seperate account for that alone. Twitter does not punish you for multiple accounts. Also keep in mind that by using multiple accounts you are able to target your audience better.

It does no good to try and target an audience for affiliate marketing when your main target is weight loss. By targeting one specific niche per account you would get much better results in the long run. It also makes your followers grow faster as well with 100% targeted twitaholics.

      Hi Paul,

It is a very good idea to have a twitter account for each of your niches. It will ensure that your posts are interesting to your followers.

In fact, a lot of internet marketers make it a habit to create different pen names for every niche that they are in.
