Site hosting expired for two months - throw site away or not?

I have a few sites that are hosted on a plan for which I forgot to keep up with the payments. The sites have been offline for about six weeks. Boneheaded, I know - I took on too many projects at once, and this slipped through the cracks. The sites are new, and were only live for a few weeks before the hosting expired, but they do have nice domains and are well-designed. I'm wondering if it is worth continuing forward with these sites at this point, or whether Google will always hold this against them and I should simply cut my losses and start over with new sites for these niches. Does anyone have experience with this?

I've taken on to many projects at one time, and let some fall through the cracks. I think a lot of internet marketers do. You should ask yourself if you really plan to do something with these sites, or are they just dead weight. If you decide to sell them, then I would recommend DP for a little quick money. You won't make millions, but even a little profit is better than none.

If the hosting has expired can you even get the websites back or do you have a back up?

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I renewed for 1 month just to copy the sites so I could move them to my permanent hosting account. If I had a backup I wouldn't have had to bother.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Dennis, did things work out well with those sites? Did it seem more difficult to build them up after having a shaky start?

I have had this happen to a couple of my sites. If you have done any extensive work creating your sites, I would definitely restore them and do a back-up so that you can move it to an expired domain that you can purchase with backlinks and domain age already built in. You indicated that they were new sites so I would simply restore them just to get the website content.

I would probably revive those sites again if the niches are good.

Revive those sites only if you can focus on them. I know well about falling through cracks, and I have a few domains sitting doing nothing as well. I either like to set reminder on renew or auto pay! Good luck.
