Is {article marketing|bookmarking|rss|facebook| *.*} dead, or?

Could it be that you're not giving it the time it deserves?

I've been successful with a lot of ways of promoting my sites over the years, but some of the better ones can consume so much of your time you often abandon them before you see the true benefits.

We all talk about outsourcing but that isn't you, and unless you have a truly good VA that can read your mind, you still have to relate to people. You need a plan!

RSS is a huge tool that very few people ever use correctly. Talk about syndication! You only have to submit your feed once and it updates itself everytime you add content.

Article Marketing is so misunderstood and underutilized and such a powerful tool. An article that is properly thought out and submitted to only the top 2-5 directories can drive thousands of eyeballs to your site or offer. And then just use the same article to all those other directories, don't spin it into intelligibility unless you're just wanting a crap link.

Social Bookmarking is a good tool, if you've got the time to form relationships...Some of the high PR social sites allow you to just mark your stuff, but most of the better rated ones are social. You have to form 'relationships' to get traffic.

Personally, I wonder about all that, I've had hundreds of hits from Digg, Stumble, Reddit and a very high bounce rate. So maybe SB sites are best for just bookmarking...just be sure and add a little something when you go in there and don't hammer them with your own stuff.

Facebook and Twitter - These sites can boost your exposure dramatically, but only if you know how to use them...there is no hit and run strategy, you can use a robot to get you 10's,100's, thousands of followers but guess what?

Twitter reminds me of traffic exchanges, the blind leading the blind.

There are no secret formulas...just stuff you don't know yet or are unwilling to put in the effort to understand.
