How Do You Cloak a Clickbank Affiliate Link?

I'm so clueless... I use XSitePro2 and I'm so scared of affiliate theft.

Can someone teach me, step-by-step, how to cloak my affiliate link using my website designer please?

I use "Offto.net and it gives you stats on clicks. Very simple and often you can get the aff name added to the prefix.

It's free by the way. Just sign up for an account and away you go. I think I have about 8 or 9 aff links there.

Hmmm just wondering... are all these Link Cloakers that useful?

I have been using ShrinkMyLink.com for quite some time, it used to be my trust link cloaker... but after a few months of using... all my affiliate links turn out to be redirecting to other websites...

Now i have to switch to others... now using tinyurl.com and Russell Brunson's LinkBrander... any comments on these?

No idea why anyone would trust a 3rd party to handle such an important aspect of their business.

What if the service goes down (which it has)? You have absolutely zero control.

    Just use the PHP approach:

Open up a text file and save this as productname.php

    Code:
    <?php
    header('Location: http://www.youraffiliatelink.com');
    ?>
Also, the search function on this forum works wonders

Add your affiliate link to XSitePro it will cloak them for you.

Go into tools at the top of the page. Click on affiliate wizard, then click on add, then add your affiliate links and details.

After that whenever you want to use an affiliate link on your web pages just highlight a phrase or image and right click. Choose insert link from the list that appears and affiliates from that list. You will get a list of all of your added affiliate links choose whichever you want to use and voila you have a cloaked link which will appear as [XSP_AFFILIATE_1] [XSP_AFFILIATE_2] etc.

There's another new site that just started recently called BudURL. It's like a link shrinker with the option to add a description and customize the ending of the link or just go random, but it also has real-time stats. They can show you where your clicks originated from which is neat when social bookmarking, to see which sites are most effective. They just added some charts and graphs too. B)>

I've been very happy with Samurai link cloaker, not only can you do redirects but you cloak your affiliate link to appear as though it is the top level parent domain name, for example say you are promoting a weight loss product from www.loseyourbelly.com, you can cloak your Clickbank to redirect to the parent site you are promoting. You can protect your sales, theives can't chop off your affiliate code and your details are still cloaked even if they view the html source code. You can even cloak your affiliate links and use them in your article directories resoure box.

It might also help your marketing efforts if you tracked your links too - I've a WSO running on a program that will cloak and track your links, and a whole lot more.

I have a count down redirect which does the same as cloaking your link.
This one directs you to a countdown page first once 0 is reached the page will then redirect to your affiliate link.

You can set the countdown time to what ever, this tool is available for free use on my site see sig for free webmaster tools.

It is number 5 in the list. Simple to use just fill out the two blanks ie the url and count down time. Then click create copy the code and save to a html file using your editor or note pad. Then upload the file to your server/site. Then just direct traffic to that page for the cloaked link.

There's the free and paid way.

Free = htaccess, html and php redirects. They take time though.

Paid = Pay a little, get a lot of convenience. See my sig for another option of the many you will be presented with.

yes but html, php etc.... needs hosting and a BASIC understanding of uploading/editing. Sometimes a simple cloaked link is enough.

HOWEVER, its true that you never know whats happening if you go hrough a 3rd party url-shortener/link cloaker. They COULD replace your afflink as well as shut you down due to spam complaints..its not under your control.

Hmmm... there seems to be so many ways to cloak an affiliate link.

Which one is the right way though?

They all do the same thing. The "right" way ultimately depends on your needs.

Use a free 3rd party site and you're risking your links and reputation on a 3rd party. They can replace your AFF ID or get shut down (taking all your links).

Use HTML and PHP redirects and you're looking at monotonous, repetitive tasks.

Use a purchased script and you're in control of your links, tracking and the process is easier.

    Dear cloudchaser22,

I hope that you will not get angry or disappointed, but you shall try to concentrate your efforts towards creating an unbeatable offer instead of link cloaking... Why? Because adding value and giving an "ethical" bribe, will always work. Investing money in a link cloaking system / program is not wise (this is my personal opinion and I can demonstrate if needed). Even cloaked, your links will produce an affiliate mention in the order form, so that is why you must be sure that you will secure the deal BEFORE landing on it. If you do not have a competitive (counter)offer, the buyer may be tempted to search the product on the market place and either clear the cookies, or use another browser to make the purchase.
In addition, please take in account that CB uses also an IFRAME breaker.

    Success!

If you are using XSP2, just click on the 'Others' tab. You will be presented with a lot of options, one of which is redirects. You can add a redirect to your aff id so that it appears like www.yourdomain.com/[myafflink]. You then add the hyperlink wherever you want it in your website, and XSP gives you a list of redirects which you have created, which you can then match to the hyperlink.

    Hope this helps!

    cloudchaser22,

I think the more profesional way is to use the PHP approach, using your own domain name, it is easy and fast. May take a little longer to implement than using a software, but it looks more professional with your own domain included in the link.
