Sales slowing over Thanksgiving? Is this normal?

Sales have been trickling in slowly for the past three days (1-2 sales per day per site). Is this usual over Thanksgiving?

I am in the dating niche, if that helps.

Yes this is totally normal.. You'll see them picking up in the
    beginning of December.

i think it depends where your market is - i have a lot of customers in australia and europe so ive got business as usual. Though in europe when its one of our public holidays it always goes slow!

      Oh, I don't know. At 8:30 this morning I've already pocketed $75 today. I'm
sure I'll have my usual $300 plus day. And if not, there's always tomorrow.

Too many marketers have myopia when it comes to this stuff. Too much
looking at the individual day and not enough looking at the big picture.

      You have a product right?
You have a sales page right?
You have your traffic generation methods right?
You convert and make sales right?

So what the hell does it matter if on certain days it slows down? So what?
When that day or period of time ends, things will go back to normal for you.

Myopia is what cripples marketers. They get too hung up on minutia.

Run your business as it should be run and the sales will come.

yeah, but it might be not the best days for launching a product
(I guess because I have no clue)

      Too true.

If you were selling turkey I'd imagine you'd see a rise in sales right about now!

Seriously though, I've noticed that over any holiday period sales tend to slump a bit.

People just have their minds on other things - spending time with their families for example. After it's over sales should get back to normal.

    Hi Deric

I work for one of the largest dating sponsors. I can tell you that we sometimes have record earnings over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Less people at work during the day can mean more people at hope on their computers. With this being the dating niche a lot of company networks actually BLOCK dating sites. So, even though many people are at home with family, many people are also at their computers surfing our sites.

If you need help getting your earnings UP contact me and I will try to help. I'm available 7 days a week, night and day.

My traffic is 300% heavier than "normal" today. I'm sure it will dip a little later in the day, but this should be a killer week for me.

It really does depend on the market.

I'm in Spain and I just checked my traffic stats... 50% below normal. I was just starting to think what the hell is going on when I saw your post. Thanksgiving! Of course! It probably seems unimaginable to other Americans but when you're gone a long time you really can forget.

Sales held up well until today but will be done now for a couple days. Christmas, however, tends to stay strong all the way through.

The flip side of this is most people have today off from work so some people may see more activity earlier in the day as opposed to a normal Thursday. Many people in the US also take off the day after Thanksgiving too, so a spike tomorrow could be expected.

If you are in a "making money" niche, my experience had been that this week was a big week as people realized how little time there is before Christmas and some people are looking for quick cash flow. Totally depends on the niche.

    Absolutely depends on the niche.

However, from a general point of view there will naturally be less traffic today as the US celebrates Thanksgiving. I think it will be Monday before things get back to normal.
