what should a broke newbe do to make money?

I joined an affiliate program through ADT Security Services. I don't have money to invest in advertising, or adwords, web site hosting, or practically anything. I'm broke. I dont have much experience with blogging and article writting and stuff like that. I would love to learn how to attract sales to me but I am really stuck in options. What would you recommend for me?

what would you do if you in my shoes.
I already tried door to door knocking and its really not for me.

help please.

I'd say craigslist buddy, or if you know of some independent websites for classified ads in your area I'd say work those too.

Article marketing would work too I would think.

Its not much, but maybe it opens some options for you.

    Hi,

I can empathize with you, however, you say...

Knocking on doors is not for you. I'm assuming you mean direct sales to local businesses which has been discussed on the forum many times as a way to make quick cash.

That's the point. "Knocking on doors" i.e. direct face to face selling is not for anyone (hardly anyone that is. Some enjoy it.)

That is why so many recommend it as a way to make as you put it "quick" cash/money.

There is a popular saying, "Find your passion, find something you love to do and figure out a way to get paid for it."

A more true saying, at least in the quick cash department is. "Do something other people HATE to do." Direct sales is top on the list.

      Hi,

      My advice is -

You need to find a way to provide survival money - for most people that would involve getting a job (probably offline) and doing anything just to keep the wolves from the door.

Then, and only then, if I wanted to make it online, would I make a commitment to doing it and then spend time and effort learning how to do it while paying my way through my 'survival' job.

Just because there is a lower barrier of entry to starting a business online, does not mean that it is easy because that lower barrier means that there are many others trying to do the same thing.

There is no instant-easy cash here (online) - particularly if you have little experience and no funds. That's the harsh truth, in my point of view. If you have the commitment it takes to make it in business online, you won't mind doing whatever it takes to get yourself there.

      Hope this helps.

About how much money will it take to get this affiliate program making me money. I obviously would need a website. I have never made a website so what would you recommend for this?

if anything how do i start blogs and articles on this subject. i know there is seo optimization, and keyword research, and other ways.

what would you recommend me to do to become an expert at these things.

          Hi,

About how much money will it take to get this affiliate program making me money. I obviously would need a website.
I can't answer that - the answer varies from person to person - from zero to lots.
I obviously would need a website. I have never made a website so what would you recommend for this?
NVU is a free editor you can download, but has a learning curve. If you get money to spend, Xsitepro is a great editor for newbies/intermediates to use.

Or you could get hosting that has 'fantastico' which helps you to install wordpress which is a (free) blog platform with many plugins - again, it has a learning curve.

what would you recommend me to do to become an expert at these things.
          Repeating myself a little -

          a) You need to make that commitment to wanting to work online - mainly because the learning curve can be frustrating and you need resilience to stick at it. You need to have a real need - if that makes sense.

          b) It will probably take some time. Therefore you need to ensure your survival so that you can approach this in a calm manner - desperation leads to errors that will slow you down.

          c) As a hint, I would mainly avoid paying to learn (buying products) and would focus on becoming an expert at using search engines to find solutions and learning materials - but as you have stated, you are broke anyway so you have no choice. There is a lot of free info out there, but it is surrounded by vultures twisting the truth baying for your dollars.

          d) The other hint I would give in order to save money, is that the best learning you will probably ever do online is to put pages up (websites/blogs) and to observe what happens and why. Second to this is learning how to tell what is really working, then going out there and examining and reverse-engineering what others are doing to make money. Third, read forums like this from top to bottom - but again, be aware that not everything that is written is designed purely to help - a lot of it is designed purely to make money. C'est la vie.

Solve 'being broke' first, then try to create a business online.

When most people jump in to do something without any guidance, chances are they will fall on their face.

Did you read anything about selling before going door-to-door?

If you're interested in trying selling again, but would like to be equipped with free material which will help you, just ask.

Does much experience mean no ability?

If you have none of the necessary skills to provide a service which could get you started in making money (like article writing), then you need to learn and practice.

If there are other things you're interested in, maybe you need to go down to the local library and grab some books?

Above all, you need to take action.

What's encouraging is, you have the wit to come on here and ask. But now you must step up to the next level, and take practical action.

    Pressing on,

The answer to not having experience is to get some. And unlike offline work, you can get that experience easily and free online. A blogger or a squiddoo page doesn't cost anything. There are also free webpages you can get (I started out with the old Geocities. They're gone, but Google and Yahoo will both let you have free webpages). Some of these programs won't let you sell things, but some will, and it's a good way to learn how to do webpages. There are lots of tutorials on html -- and free editors if you don't want to be bothered. Get a blog, build a web page, go to someplace like amazon and sign up for their associates account. Reviewing books (you can get them at the library if you don't have the money to buy them) will give you experience blogging and writing. Advertise your page by writing articles on the subjects of the books you've reviewed. That will attract some attention to your webpages, and give you more experience article writing.

Will any of this make you money? Probably not, and if so, probably not much. But it will give you experience. That will give you a little confidence and then, if you keep reading here, you'll be able to see what your best options are-- and what you're best suited to.

I highly recommend that you get a job and get some money to start off a business with. As Napoleon Hill says, some people fail in business because they are not prepared. They have no money to fall to.. Free things may work but you have to invest lots of time..

After you have made some money, I would highly recommend site build it( SBI) if you want to build a real business with a website. they have all the tools in one place. This will save you lots of time and money so that you don't wonder from place to place.

If it was not for them, I highly doubt if I would have a profitable business

I can only speak from my own point of view in dating and cams. I have newbies making several hundred dollars per day after only a month in the business. But dating and cams are not for anyone.

If you're broke then you wont have money for hosting or content or scripts.

This means you'll need free hosting and your own self-created content.

If you want to get into dating, feel free to get in touch.

First of all - go look at blinkweb as a cheap, easy way to set up a website. Second of all - I agree that you need to get a job, probably an offline job, no matter how awful it is, just temporarily - you need money coming in to pay the bills. This isn't forever; this is just so that you can feed, clothe, & house yourself & keep the electricity on.

Knocking door to door trying to sell things is a horrible way to go, and unless you have a knack for it, it's just demoralizing and a waste of time for most people. And speaking as someone who bought an alarm system several times - I would never buy them from someone coming door to door.

I understand the concept of doing the jobs that no one else wants to do - but in this case I really, truly believe you would be better off working at a fast food joint, where you have some cash coming in for sure, than knocking on doors and likely making no money. Again - it's only temporary.

I mean, if the whole point of internet marketing is to control your own destiny and enjoy what you do and not have a horrible boss, how is knocking on doors and being rejected all day long helpful?

As for what you SHOULD do to start making money online - stick around the Warrior Forum, read through a lot of the threads on here every day, save up money from your day job so that you can put some money towards your business...and don't get obsessed with only trying to make it by selling Alarm Systems. Use Blinkweb to make websites for a few different affiliate products, promote each using article marketing, and see what works for you.

I didn't listen to the advice I was given that matched what everyone else is saying (regular job to pay the bills and do IM on the side). Here's what I've found about the other path:

When you have no backup income and no savings, as the bills roll in, the pressure mounts.

Since the bills keep coming in, you don't have the time required to get any real business system off the ground. You need money NOW. Because of this, it's incredibly hard to devote any time to work towards the future or future income.

The worst part is that by only giving each system a few days, you may never find anything that can give you a quick return. I was "lucky" and found one, but it took so much of my time that it was very difficult to break away from it.

If you are set on this path, try service-type things such as copywriting, web design, programming, or graphics work. Of course, if you don't have any skill in these areas, you'll really have to start at the bottom with your prices and increase as your skill increases. It will take work, but if you stick with it, you'll find the time to work on side projects (like your alarm site) on the side.

Wish I could recommend an easy button, but if that's what you're looking for, you might as well pick up a lottery ticket.

I agree you need a job. But you can also look at starting a down to earth offline business like selling newspapers or cleaning carpets as look for a regular job. Meanwhile there are many free materials on this forum. Read as much as you can.

If you have access to a credit card you could use it to start the offline business. However, you need a tight budget. Eat at home instead of restaurants. Do without designer clothes for while. Save at least 10% of every coin you earn with the intention of starting an online business. Do not touch the money until you are ready to start online.

I hope I can post my first sale sometime soon.
Of course first I'm going to take your advice of getting a job.
I guess it wont be too bad since the ultimate goal is financial freedom, which is worth it. I'm sure there is a lot of you in here that know what the hard work and dedication does in the end.

Alright, so if you already have a job and you have no extra money to spend on your IM business, here are a few free alternatives:

    1. Creating a website - use blogger.com, wordpress.com, or build a Squidoo Lense.

    2. Marketing your website - Articles, articles, articles. Submit them to EzineArticles.com first and foremost, and then to the other directories from there. You're going to have to write if you want to succeed in this game. Just write how you talk, as if you're trying to explain something to a friend.

    3. Linkbuilding - I already said articles, but you can also post to forums, and comment to blogs. Use CommentKahuna to help you with the latter.

That's all I have off the top of my head. Hope others can add to the list.

Practice article writing, even if you're not too confident with it at present, just try it. Practice and practice again because it's one of the best free forms of advertising you can get and if you're short on cash is a great way to get started. Try hubpages which lets you tap into existing streams of traffic. Free blogs with wordpress, blogger, pinpointing keywords with low competition will allow you to rank highly on the search engines giving you lots of free traffic. Even creating a video on Windows Movie Maker and posting it on youtube can get you some quick traffic. Hope this helps, you have to find what works for you. You might want to pick a Warrior Special Offer for cheap which also gives you ideas for generating an income with very little, just means you have to invest lots of time instead.

I've been where you are and only a few weeks ago at that!

If I were starting over again, I'd get a part time job AT LEAST!!!

I'd then sign up to the BumMarketing method, read that, get on Travis' list and read every email he sent me.

Hand in hand with that I'd read the Warrior Forum and the past posts here and I'd ask questions here.

I'd then go to Clickbank and find 2 or 3 products and familiarise myself with them and their sales pages.

I'd do a Google search of these products and find out what other sellers were saying about them and use their reviews as the basis for writing my own - not copy their reviews.

I'd go for Squidoo and Blogger as my publishing platform. If I had no money or very little, I wouldn't even think about domain names and hosting.

And I'd keep on writing articles and submitting them and working on my sites until I made 1 sale and then another and another...

But as I said, hand in hand with all of that, I'd get a part time job! I really would!

      Good luck!

    Hi Money Raker,

I can completely relate to the comments you are making about how tough it is online.
I think in years to come IM will probably evolve into a degree course of some kind.
Just like any worthwhile discipline this business takes studious study and I would encourage you to build your own information product to sell online.

Use free source software and visit sites like download.com where you can get considerable leverage without spending any money.

Probably the best $9 I have ever spent online is on a blogging course that taught me how to build a free wordpress blog and write editorials with affiliate links etc.

Money Raker the truth is that this like most businesses that pay well is a 3am business and what I mean by that is that at some point you will have to put in some 3am sessions and work and study hard.

On the sales page at my signature link( and I am not suggesting you buy my product) honest, there is a video of a guy called Paul Potts singing opera and I think you would get something from watching that video.

The video is near the bottom of the page and it is quite inspirational.

The story is about determination and surprising the crowd.

    Sincere Regards

    Paul
