Do you need to get a seller's permit or resale license? Help please:)

Hey warriors

I really need help with a few questions.
Well, i wanted to setup a paid membership site with
plr, mrr (master resale rights) products, for members to be able to download and use.

Q1. Do i need to get a "seller's permit" Or a "resale license" from the
*government for this type of website?

(This is for in the *USA CA)

(I ask because when you find the Plr, Mrr products to Add to the site,
aren't you getting the plr/mrr products from from someone kind of like a
dealer since you would be getting them from them over and over?)

Q2. Or does the resale license or seller's permit just for getting
real tangable stuff like furniture from a real company
through a dealer and therefore we do Not need to get one?
(i honesty do Not think we need one at all since they are Files.)

Q3. Since the MRR, plr products are all digital files, and Not touchable
then we do not need the resale license or sellers permit from the *government?
(i am Not talking about the certificates that come with the plr/mrr products.)

Q4. Do you guys with membership sites with plr/mrr products in them
have a resale license or seller's permit from the government or do you
just Not need one?

Well, i hope you guys answer because i have been wondering about this
for awhile and really would like an answer from you guys that
run membership sites so please answer
(It's kind of an obstacle for me and i have not started one because
of not knowing what you guys are doing regarding this.)

Please help. We are all family here right

Thank you to All Warriors that answer these questions
I really appreciate the help guys.

First of all you can't give away products that have
resell rights.. Unless it's stated in the license doc you
    got when buying the rights.

I suggest you go over each Read Me doc your products
have and see what rights you have for each product.

If there isn't a doc containing the rights I suggest you
contact the owner before doing anything that might be
    illegal!

*government issues to people that sell items like furniture, and other items.

It depends on the state and locality your live in.

I had a business license and a state sales tax ID when I sold physical products actively on eBay a few years ago. If you're not selling physical products it can get a little grayer since many services, like freelance writing, are exempt from sales taxes in many states but you'll have to check your local laws.

Business permits/licenses you'll probably need as well because if you don't have one but collect sales taxes for the state your local government will come back to you wanting their piece of your pie.

Naturally, if you live in the US make sure that you hold back 25% of your gross earnings for income tax and make your estimated payments in order to avoid paying the IRS penalties and interest.

    Where is the business located?
You may need a business licence
    Taxpayer ID # or
Certificate of Authority to collect sales tax.
It depends on where the business is located, where the customer is located and the types of products and services you are offering.

The only thing you need to do is go to your local town office and register your business. then if you want go to the state level and register the business name.. whatever state you live in will have a website.

If you are profiting from sales then it is vital to register your business. it will stink if you get audited.

As for selling in a membership site. that is up to the license in the package.

hope this helps as iam actually starting my own membership site soon.

You can find the government sales tax/resale license info for your state on the map here: How to Get a Resale License / Sales Tax ID [Clickable Map of States] | SaleHoo

Should make it faster to find specific information. Hope that helps!
