IM Newbie Hits Page One on Google - Secrets Revealed!
Hee, hee! How's that for a title?
Seriously though, I'm feeling pretty good, and I do want to share with other newbs a little motivation.
I spent a year blogging with no idea what internet marketing was but I was dead set on learning how to make a living online. I'd been burned with offline 'get rich' schemes, but after a year and only making $15 with Adsense I got desperate. I signed up for Project Payday - yuck!
While investigating one of their ripoffs, I stumbled across Brian Johnson's Commission Ritual. I immediately recognized it as being sincere and entirely doable.
This is the important part for newbies!
As I went through the material I took the actions he outlined. I didn't read through it first, dawdle, and procrastinate. I took action!
That site I built hit page one in a week! (Yeah!)
3 months later it has had 124 visitors (at least 20 of those are me) and I honestly don't know what people are looking for when they go to the site = no money. (Boo!)
A week after it hit page one I realized I had made a mistake in my keyword research and that site was never going to produce any income. I was pretty bummed out, but a couple days later I started on my next site.
I've made a bunch of mistakes on that site also, I changed the content too often and Google sandboxed it for over a month. I did get traffic from articles and social bookmarking and made about $50 in two months.
Two weeks ago I noticed it was on the front page of Bing and Yahoo; and yesterday it showed up #7 on Google. Hallelujah!
I'm pretty happy, and very motivated now.
I really want to get the point across to anyone who hasn't built their first site, or published their first article, or taken any action in IM, to do it! Don't worry about doing it right, just do it.
I have learned so much, and been inspired in ways that reading forum posts or other IM materials could never have done for me. All because I took action, made a bunch of mistakes, and didn't give up.
This sh*t is hard, don't let any B.S. sales copy fool you; prepare for pain, confusion, and frustration. You will fail.
But, it makes the successes so much sweeter when you persist through it. I figure I'll probably make $100 this month which seems like nothing, but to me it will be a HUGE success.
