Starting an Affiliate Program

I'm currently a merchant for clothing and I've been recently thinking of starting an affiliate program where affiliates can refer customers to my website to earn a profit

Since it's not a digital good, the commission is about 10%...


How do you guys think I should start - which affiliate service should I use and what do you think of the commission rate?

    i started my own for my music site and give 12% commision but looking to bump it up. I use Share-A-Sale to run it for me and well worth the money!

    The commission rate doesn't really matter. What affiliates will care about is the EPC - Earnings Per Click.

    Price x Conversion Rate x Commission

    Eg if you sell a $100 item of clothing, with the sales page converting at 5% and you pay 10% commission your affiliate earns

    $100 x 0.1 x 0.05 = $0.50 per click

    The higher the better and ultimately your job as a product owner is to make that EPC as high as possible by setting up a good marketing funnel.

    If you are in the UK then the best Affiliate Network would be Affiliate Window (the company I work for is one of their best merchants) and it is great, excellent support and they are doing a lot for both sides of the pond.

    If you are in the USA, then not too sure, there are several really good Affiliate networks including Share A Sale.

    One's to steer clear from are, Tradetracker, Tradedoubler, OMG.
