Warriors...Need Help !

Hi All,

My name is Theo & live in Melbourne, Australia.

A while ago I purchased a program online.
A couple of weeks later I received a phone call from that company offering me the 'coaching course'.
As a newbie in IM, I decided to go for it.

( wont mention persons name or company...but it cost me over $3000 )

After I paid, I had to sign & fax some paperwork back to them, fill in a survey form & organise my first coaching session.
So I did.

Anyway, I did not receive that phone call from my coach.
So I waited a week to see if they call me then.
Again, nothing !

So I then decided to ask for my money back.

Anyway, there have been several emails back and forth.
They will not give me my money back & they want me to proceed with the coaching.
I personally don't wish to proceed after how I've been treated by them.

So my question is this...

I live in Australia & they are in the USA.
Does anyone know where or who I can turn to to begin the process of getting back my money ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you...Theo

Did you pay by credit card? If yes then it might be worth talking to your card issuer about chargeback

    Yes I did.
But I'm just wondering if to much time has gone by.
Payment was made Nov 5th 2010.

I'd continue pestering them via e-mail, combined with calling them (if possible) and contacting upper management (if such people exist in their structure). Good luck, and in the future, look into services before purchasing - make sure you can find real people who can vouch for the service.

Not sure what the time limit is on charge backs but I would at least give your CC a call and see if they can help. Whats the worst that could happen. Also make sure you save your emails and write down when you call them and who you talk to if they answer. That info may come useful down the road. Best of luck to you and I hope they work things out with you

    Thanks guys.
Just got off the phone with bank & they're beginning proceedings.
    Not sure what will happen.

The issue is that the company & person I went with is BIG in the industry.
That's why I went for it.
Checked him out online & everything added up.
So I thought it was ideal for someone like me to go with a person with his reputation.

Wont mention names yet, but I will if I have to to help others in the future.

    Thanks all again

Ya the chargeback route is the way to go if the merchant doesnt want to help the situation. As a merchant they will automatically be charged $25 and even if it gets reversed, they still have to pay it. If you really feel you have been shafted, post on scam sites like ripoffreport and put their number up on 800notes so "company X scam" will have your report show up.

I agree with chatting to your card company. Also threaten them with legal action. This may spark a response. Failing both those, do everything in your power to make people aware of these guys. Post warnings all over the place and tell them you are doing it. This is exactly the kind of thing that gives internet marketing a bad name.

I think the idea about going to ripoff sites and registering the company name and tell them what happened is a good way to go because it alerts people to this company and may make it possible for a lot of people not to deal with them or buy from them. I usually deal with Clickbank and they have a record of my purchases and all I have to do is say "give me a refund and in a few days they do. In other cases where it is not so easy I search on Google for any information they have about the company, try to find a phone number for them or an email address and confront them with the situation. It worked for me.

$3000 is a lot of money and I would certainly not be happy paying that and then not receiving a good service.

I hope you get your money back!

Hi Theo: If I'm not mistaken the time limit on credit card chargebacks is at least 6 months.

    Two things that may help.

First, I'll tell you a story about a friend of mine. He just started working(straight out of college) and he decided to buy a car. There was a problem with the car so he basically got ripped off... He tried and tried and tried to get his money back but they just would not listen to him. He was working with another man at the time who happened to be a lawyer. His co-worker(the lawyer) suggested that he send an intention to sue(intention to take them to the courts). So he did. He sent them an intention to sue. Within a week, they had given him all his money back just because they did not want him to sue them. Maybe this can inspire you to do the same? I don't know if it's worth it in your case - your call.

The second thing I wanted to mention is: you live and you learn. I've been in similar situations and I'll tell you there is a positive side to getting ripped off... you'd be surprised at how careful you are to part with your money in the future no matter what it is. So there is an upside to everything.

Hope this helps and good luck to you!

Have done most of the above.
Contacted back re: credit card charge back...in the process
Also sent email to company...alerting them I will take matters further.
I will wait for their reply.
If I'm not happy with that...
will then let them know that I intend to plaster their 'name' all over the internet.

    Again...thanks for all your support.
    I will keep you posted.

    Cheers...Theo
