Do you actually read the PLR content on your hard drive?

There are so many people that use PLR content for product creation and marketing but NEVER read the content. I think this is the worst mistake that an Internet Marketer can make if he/she is going to use PLR content the right way.

I will be honest -

The majority of the time when I download a PLR or MRR product, I don't use it for marketing. Instead I read it for myself. And then creatively use the information that I have learned to produce original content or marketing strategies.

Do you read your PLR content before using it for marketing?

A few years ago I got some acne curing PLC content, but no i didn't read it as i didn't have or still don't have any spots lol.

But you have a valid point, you should read what you get and digest it, so that you can expand your ideas.

I have PLR sitting on my hard drive that I've never read, but I've also never used it. The PLR that I have used I have certainly read before using and usually rewrite to a degree too.

I wouldn't put any PLR straight onto my website without reading it first - there is some pretty poor quality PLR out there.

Usually after I get my PLR stuff, I check it out to see if what I downloaded is good. If it is good, I try learn as much from it as possible and then edit it!

I edit it by, maybe adding in a few of my own pointers, my own learning experiences etc. I then re package it and sell it.

So in the end PLR Packages are useful to me on both ends for learning and also selling!

You can really find some AWFUL PLR floating around out there. There's some pretty awful ORIGINAL content out there also. Your best bet is to check and double-check any content you're going to put on your website to make sure the quality is as high as possible.

I definitely read over any plr I'm going to use, because it will need a thorough rewrite before using it anyway.

There is no way I would use plr as is.

I absolutely agree! I have gotten PLR content that was unique, but it was absolute crap. I learned my lesson the hard way lol.

I usually go through things as I create.
I don't have time to sit and read everything when I download them Before using them I do sometimes I find they are just rehashed words some of it is spun really badly and other times it is great quality fantastic graphics and easy to rip apart and make better. Look for audio and video that compliments the product so you can make it a powerhouse

If I'm about to use it, I definitely read it. And like others have said I often use it for product ideas or at least rewrite it so that it's in my own voice and style.

Edited to add: I do have a whole bunch on my hard drive that I haven't read and haven't used yet though. One day I'm going to whip through and clear it all out. My goal is use it or lose it in this case. I don't want unused plr just sitting there.

Nop, I don't download a lot of PLR "content". Some eBook templates, etc, yes but content, no. Even if I did, I'd very rarely read it let alone use it. It'd mostly be an impulse download (if there is something like that!)

You've brought up a great point, TheEntrepreurDiva! You can learn from PLR and then use it to your advantage. I have, on occasion, bought PLR not because it was PLR but as something I wanted to know more about.

    Thanks,
    Peggy

honestly, I do not read it with thinking. I "look" at it just in case it has obvious broken sentences. The problem I have is: if I "read" each of them, I can not do anything else anymore.

You are so right. PLR should be a guide and a stepping stone. You should customize it to your own style because you are trying to sell yourself and your business. Some of the PLR out there has a lot of bad grammar and typos so you do not want to brand yourself with that. Correct all the mistakes, add your own content or use the guidelines to just rewrite the whole thing. This way, you will really stand out.

My POV with plr content (not products) is to use it as a base. I always have the mind to rewrite it even if it's "exclusive to x-number of people". However, one cannot become an expert reading plr then rewriting it.

Before I even rewrite, I consider my keywords so when I do rewrite the content, I'm preparing to rewrite with certain keywords in mind and consider all aspects of on-page SEO.

Some PLR is so bad you just look for something else whilst other PLR is good enough to rewrite and make unique.

It depends on what you're trying to accomplish

you know what the insane part is? first to answer your question - no, not unless I'm going to give it away or re-write it.

The crazy part is that if I need information on something (say CPA), I'll scrounge all over the place for it when I might have something perfect already on my hard drive. Or, some great ebook that I'm downloading - I've already had for months and just forgot about.

this can be a v. fast-paced world and information overload is an easy place to get to.

It wasn't until recently that I started to realize that I could use my PLR content for research. And since I have been doing so, I can knock out a quality article in less than 20 minutes based on something I learned and add my own thoughts to it. So it has it's benefits

After collecting hundred of thousands of the junk PLR files, its sole purpose is to serve as idea generators for original content. I don't trust that stuff to represent my businesses, so those files supply ideas based on keyword research.

On the other hand, there's a completely different answer when it comes to PLR material from people like Tiffany Dow or Anita Ashland. I will still heavily modify it, but this is material which I trust to represent my businesses.
