Marketing engineering ebook, how?

Hi;
Take a look of my friend's site.
http://entrylevelengineer.org/offer/

He asked me for help, to launch this product.

How can I help?

Do promoting this site to Cb help?

Need ideas to promote this.

PS : He's a successful engineer and love his job. But for some odd reasons, he started writing this ebook which in the first place I told him, he can make money selling his experience

Now, I'm dying. He really write his ebook, but in the other hand, I don't know how to market this.

Thanks in advance for inputs.

He needs to get in front of engineers. This is going to take targeted marketing, and he already knows who his market is. Now, just need to find out where the engineers are hanging out.

He needs to focus his efforts. As a retired manufacturing engineer I'd look at this and say "What kind of an engineer would this help? Mechanical, Computer, Industrial??"

There are many different and distinct branches of engineering, each with their own subtle intricacies. How would this book help all of them?

First, I see several problems in the copy.

It is not clear what this is all about, and even seeing the title, it left me wondering what this is all about. Too many disconnects ... i.e. career guide vs resume

There is the use of "I wrote", but nowhere in the page (that I saw) shows who "I" is.

A quick scan of the page (the way most people read something like this) doesn't have anything pop out at me ... or give me any reason to dig through the copy.

I looked for any qualifications for whoever wrote it, and found nothing.

Before trying to promote it, a really good case could be made for getting a good copywriter to redo the sales page.

Take a read through the copywriting forum at some of the critiques there, and I think you will begin to see that this copy is not worth promoting in its current form.

I would first recommend he get a little help with the sales page. There are some layout programs and it needs a bit more focus.

Personally, I would think offline a bit. There are a number of trade journals engineers are likely to read. Some offer classified or display ads were he could promote his product, although at a $9 price point if might be tough to pay for ads.

If the ebook is substantial I would look at churning out a print version and try to get it carried by companies that sell supplies to engineers. Again, the price point is problematic in terms of justifying spending much to promote it.

With a print version it might be possible to get it into college bookstores in the engineering section--not sure. If he could get it on the recommended reading list by some engineering professors at large colleges he could make some hefty bulk sales in a hurry.

    Just some thoughts--good luck. Mike
