How would you monetize a 1,000+ visitor PER DAY blog??? [Screenshot Inside]

Just picked up an awesome blog for a steal (check out the traffic stats below):

** Note since getting it on the 6th Jan - traffic has jumped to 1000+ visitors/day - I do realize that previous traffic was in the 500/day range **

Attachment 6863

Previous owner reckons he couldn't monetize the traffic and was only making a few $/day using adsense... therefore the great purchase price...

Here's what I've done so far....

1. Added an optin form (HE DIDN'T HAVE ONE!!!) - with a 'free gift' (SOME PLR Content as I have NO knowledge in the niche at all... until I figure out what to sell - I figure building a list in this niche is a great start.

2. Added a sidebar to the site with a bunch of outbound links to clickbank products (tracking each to see which gets most clicks/sales).

3. Placed a single (banner) in top center where CPA offers are rotated (again tracking to see which offers perform best).

..

Any other suggestions - what would you do?!

Also consider adding Google Adsense Ads to fully monetise your blog.

May I please enquire what niche this blog covers?

      @MasonRamm

As mentioned in the OP - the original owner was already using only Adsense and getting a few (<$5/day).

I'd rather not share the niche

Not knowing the niche makes it very difficult to make a recommendation as all niches are different. I, personally, think you have too much going on with both CPA and a bunch of clickbank products. If this website was already tested with adsense ads and made no money, why would you run a banner at the top and a sidebar full of products for clickbank? These are typical places for adsense ads.

I would try to promote maybe one or two clickbank or CPA products through text links in the content and maybe an ad at the bottom. Also, depending on whether the niche fits you could test amazon products as well. I find that some websites make better sales when they do not have advertisement all over them, and instead have just a little bit of links sprinkled through.

I do like that you have the sense to add an optin form so that you can build a list. That is very smart and will come in handy once you start learning more about this niche.

I agree with the top post. I would limit the number of clickbank products or even rotate them out if you are looking to do some testing. A bunch of products all over the site might drop the traffic that you are receiving.

Not knowing the niche does make it very difficult to say how to monetize it, but I also understand not wanting to share a niche that is bringing you 1,000 visitors per day.

Amazon and CJ.com sell about everything. You should be able to find something there that people could be looking for.

    Good Luck

Ahhh yes....sometimes I forget all about CJ.com, but they are great as well because they have many products to choose from. I also understand why you would not give the niche away with so many visitors, but the main goal here is to TEST, TEST, and TEST some more, but only one thing at a time.

After a few months of good testing you should find something that sells well and makes you the money you are looking for.

That answer depends completely on where the traffic coming from and what the niche is.

As for the adsense, you need to test, test, test to get your CTR up to at least 2-3%.

Looks like traffic took a nose dive the day before that pic.

    Is it still holding up?

    Is the traffic organic??

Traffic is actually going up! The pic shows low traffic on the last day as it was very early in the day - traffic is 95% organic. 5% referal. 0% paid!

With the suggestions of adsense - I don't feel this is the best answer - definately the easiest method of monetization but not the highest in terms of revenue.

Based on the past stats - if I could get the CTR up to 2-3% as suggested - the site would be worth at most $50/day...

I think there is definitely potential for an info product ($27) converting at even just 1% could be $270/day....

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions however!

I would strongly suggest getting to know that niche inside and out. (might have been worth a little investigation before purchase).

If your site has a forum, read around inside it - see if anything jumps out as to products this market likes to buy, accessories needed etc.

If your site doesn't have a forum, go to big boards or do a google search and find forums on that subject and research.
