Hey all, I understand that first of all the forum needs to be good in a niche. The niche i'm in here is poultry, mainly to do with breeding and the site recieves around 10,000 uniques and 30,000 pageviews per month. I want to try and build and sustain this traffic and hoping that a forum running off the site might do this for me. The site is www.poultrypages.com and obviously i don't expect to gain all my sign ups through current traffic, so i'm looking at ways to market for the forum. Any advice appreciated. |

Good idea, I use forums to get daily visitors coming back time and time again, and it works well where the niche provides for it, especially hobbies. I guess poultry breeding is a hobby, as well as a business, so you should do well. You need to kick start the forum with a bit of advertising, making it known in newsletters, ezines and periodicals. Once you have members posting daily you'll find you receive a lot of Search Engine love! |

I've signed up with forumpromotion.net wish you post on and get points so basically every post on there equates to a post on my forum when its up and running aswell as some thread starts. Also have one other webmaster who is willing to do a post for post exchange. Will be nice to get a good list then i can start promoting Amazon products and the like. Do you think the likes of www.stevengerrard.info will get enough coverage to build a community too? It gets about 200+ uniques a day |

Checked you site out. Forum are a good way to go. You might want to think about adding a blog to your website as well, where you could survey and build a relationship with the visitors. A blog is also a great place to find out what problems your visitors are having...and then create products to solve these problems. To your success. |

With 200 uniques a day simply start posting questions and information yourself and I'm pretty sure you'll get a forum going in no time. Keep posting yourself at the start, don't expect people to start for you (nobody likes to post on an empty forum). and put a nice big link on the front page/menubar |

Thanks for the input! I've spoke to a few people about posting exchange, so its not me speaking to myself all the time ![]() I will check out other forum layouts tonight and see how they are structuring it. Hopefully the 10k uniques and a nice banner will get me some members from my main site. If anyone has a forum and wants to do post exchange - let me know! |
