I'm on "probation" with HubPages

What a wonderful day this is turning out to be. First my Adsense account gets banned and now I'm on probation with HubPages. All of my hubs have to be approved by an administrator now before they will post.

Why you ask? Because I have a site about home brewing and I made some hubs about home brewing to link to my site. Well they were freaking out saying that alcohol is against Google's TOS so they made me remove the links to my site. But Google makes an exception to home brewing as stated here but Hubpages won't listen and ultimately it's their site:
Drug, alcohol, and tobacco-related content - AdSense Help

So has anyone else been on probation before? How long are you on it??

  • If Google has an exception for it, why did they ban your Adsense account?
I don't really use Hubpages though...

You should quote Google's TOS where it allows homebrew, and email it to an administrator. They should remove your probation.

Or just use another platform - ideally your own, to promote it.

Try speaking to someone in support though and explain the situation.

As Letterman likes to say, "I wouldn't give your troubles to a monkey on a rock."

Sounds like you get stuck with a reviewer that didn't know his rear end from a hole in the ground. Is there any way to escalate this to someone competent?

I took a quick look, and either the person that put you on probation misunderstood something, or there's a detail we're not getting. If they want to tell you home brewing isn't a fit subject, show them this page:

    Search Hubs matching 'home brewing'

      Jennifer,

I am so sorry, I do not have solution as I simply do not know enough about adsense or HP. Google is tough things, HP, if you take out the article, will that fix the solution? I wish things go better for you.

I love your banners...by the way.

The detail is that my page is selling home brewing supplies which they are saying is against Google's TOS not the info about home brewing. I think they're nitpicking. Google wouldn't have "buy homebrew kits" on their Adsense if it was against their TOS.

That was my point. Open any of the hubs on that list, and see what Google thinks are appropriate ads to put on Adsense.

Did you add more hubs for that topic? Did you reach a resolution before when you had the problem? Odd Hubs would wait so long to take any action - I thought they had accepted your explanation before.

At the end of the day, the way HubPages interprets Google's rules in creation of their own is their own right. Just because you can prove Google allows it doesn't mean HubPages will change their rules. Is it worth the effort (is it a high-performing Hub) or should you consider posting your content elsewhere?

Good for you. Now you can quit worrying about the pennieson adsense and hubpages and concentrate your efforts elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that Jennifer - that sucks!

But don't spend too much time stressing about it if there is nothing that you can do. Either continue creating hubs (on other topics ) and waiting for them to be approved, or open and new Hubpages account and start over - or just forget Hubpages altogether!

Anyway, move on and don't let it get you down too much or you'll waste to much effort and energy on it!

    Take care
