I asked a question here a couple of weeks ago and finally resolved the issue thanks to a warrior

The originalpost is gone from the forum.... meaning deleted for some reason, but forund a resolution for the problem.

The thread was about not getting any backlinks from the WF showing up for that past couple of mionths.

This is waht I originally post to this thread

Some of you suggested that there isn't a no-follow, but I am still not getting any backlinks except for my profile page. This has been going on for about 2 - 3 months now.

I though everyone was right, and I justified it by ckalking it up to me not looking at the source code. I know with VBulletin software you can get plugins or Mods to do the job without anyone being the wiser.

What I want to know is why are some people getting backlinks while others are not?

Secondly, it looks mighty suspicious when a post is deleted after bringing up the subject. If there isn't any validity to my question/concern, then why the deleted post?

I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything, I'm simply trying to find out what's going on, and find a resolution.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, and have a great Thanksgiving ...

Mary

But I did find out why I get no backlinks for those who are interested

The problem was that I reversed 2 letters in the doaim, so the link was broken.

DUH!

Lol this just goes to show that you should always double check your links before saving. Then check to make sure they are working.

I am so very embarrassed, but I guess it can happen to seasoned vets too.

Thanks Martin, I owe you one kid!

I know what the source codes states. But I also know the results I get when finguring out how many links I am getting from where lol.

To clear things up, I am trying to find out why backlinks aren't showing up on my end. I've used several tools to check and none are from here.

There was a time I was getting a ton of them. Now I don't get any, for any site....not 1 backlink.

Hope this clears up why I posted, and what I am asking.

        Hi Mary,

        Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

I just did a Google search to check out you claim and found a link from the
Warrior Forum to your site listed on the front page results.

Go To Google and enter the following with out quotes in the search box
        and press enter:
        "links;www.MarysHeadlines.com"

Or just click here to see the results using the search term:
        http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...sheadlines.com

Your site is listed with a link from the WF in the sixth result.

        Hope that Helps,
        Have a Great Turkey Day!

      Lol...Thanks George!

Hey, am I running a little slow today? (Must be the Turkey affecting me!)

      Did I miss Mary's point?

I did check a few backlink programs I have and didn't see any results from them either.

    Lol George,

I know what you mean. I need some too! I've been up since 6:00 am this morning.

No apology needed. I had to review my post too after webdesignhq said he/she didn't quite understand my question or point.

Now don't go getting to suffed with your diner or you'll need more than coffee to help you ... more like a crain.

    Hey Michael,

That one for that blog is an old one, and there haven't been any show up for the other 2 in my sig for months now.

I've used several tools like I said. You appear to be having a similar problem because you mention here that you didn't get any to show up either in the tools that you used:

I did check a few backlink programs I have and didn't see ay results from them either.
Now the soruce code may no show a no-follow tag in it, but I am sure there are scripts out now that can alter the looks of source code. I've seen them, and use one myself ... hence the rest of the OP.

Lol now I'm wondering who else isn't getting backlinks, and who is. It might be interesting to find out, and why this is happening.

If people know about forum marketing to any degree, they should know how beneficial backlinks are. If they aren't getting any from specific places, they are spinning wheels. To me it's unproductive as heck.

Anyway, it doesn't answer the question as to why some people are getting backlinks and why I'm not. Go figure right?

If you guys happen to have any other thoughts that come to mind, please post them. Who knows, they may help me understand some things.

    Thanks ...

Hi Mary, I remember back in the day getting a lot of link love from this forum but now it seems they're re-direct to your link ie. I link to my forum and instead it links to a Warriorforum page which then sends it to my page.

The "middle man" page I believe may have a NO-index?

But upon checking before this post I see it may have been reverted to a straight link?

    Hey Louis,

Hmm .. I know what you mean, and that could be, but I'm not even getting the straight link back to my page. I'm telling you, this is really wired lol.

What really attracted me to the problem is that I am getting the backlinks from other forums just fine without a redirect or middle man(?), so why not this one when other people are supposedly getting them?

That is a great thought though, and thanks!

I dont think the search engines pay much attention to site wide links anymore, due to link spamming.

From my searching and testing, I have found that they only count 1 or 2 backlinks from each individual domain name.

Thats why I think that people submitting hundreds of articles to one article directory like Ezinearticles, strictly for SEO and backlink purposes are wasting their time.

I looked up your backlinks to www.MarysHeadlines.com in Yahoo and I found 2 from warriors. I also only have 2 links from warriors counting towards my site.

    Hey Bob,

That brings up an interesting concept, and you maybe right as to why I don't seem to get the link juice I used to.

    Good point, and thanks.

I know about the article directories, and have know for a long time. I don't submit to many either. I usually don't hammer for backlinks either if that tells you anything. SEO has changed in the last year or so dramatically, and is still a work in progress.

As far as the backlinks go, there is the good old fashion way of getting them I suppose. Just find as many forums, sites, blogs, etc ... and do it that way.

    So much for forum marketing.

No offense, but if the first thread you started on this topic was deleted, why on earth would you start another one? Just curious considering that there had to be a valid reason for the first one to be deleted, don't you think?

P.S. Who else is stuffed and ready for a turkey induced nap?

Probably for the same reason you chose to propose you question in this thread.

I think I've been around this forum long enough to know what I should be doing in here lol.

        Hey Bob,

I just checked the forum link in my zig, and don't have any backlinks from here for it. I do for that blog link you psoted, but it is an old established blo9g that has been in my sig file since I started posting here.

This is part of what I was saying, some links are getting indexed while others are not.

Hey Mary, how are you checking your backlinks? I use Yahoo because it displays pretty much every backlink that it considers legit, but im not sure about this now after some investigating. Google counts alot more backlinks than they actually display in their backlink results.

I have just noticed now that Yahoo dont seem to count any more than 2 backlinks from each domain.

I looked up each of your 3 domains in yahoo doing a link: search. I found 2 links from the warrior forum on each domain and also no more than 2 links from nearly every other site that links back.

I checked my 3 sig domains and they also only show 2 backlinks each from warriors.com.
Strangely each domain had a backlink from the same forum thred. No idea why Yahoo found that 1 thred the most important out of 230+ posts.

So I really do think search engines are not counting sitewide links anymore. Now that Yahoo have their 2 backlinks from Warriors for each of your domains, I dont think you will get any more. BUT these may only be the backlinks they are displaying while they might be actually counting alot more.

Google obviously doesnt consider links From Warrior forum valuable enough to display is some cases.

So im pretty sure Warriors forum is dofollow and dont have link redirects but i also reckon 1 sig backlink from the warrior forum domain isnt worth much less than 3600+ as you would have.

Yes, SEO has changed sooo much in the last 12 months. Googles Algo is almost AI, and is so smart now days.

Had a huge swing towards quality content and web 2.0 authority. This has put everyone on a quite level playing field when it comes to SEO. Everyone is still learning the new rules.

Building links from un related sites is almost worthless these days. Quality, related links are what we need but are so much harder to come by. Hard work always wins the race though.
