LOL the grey beard is not that bad ther emike. Heck I have light blode hair and a dark brown beard now if you can explain that one I would really like to know cause I am far from going gray my self. I just turning 30 in a few days from now so I think I still got atleast 10 years left before things start turning gray on me.

It's not a dumb question at all. First, I care about where all my traffic comes from. But I am more concerned about where traffic comes from that actually does something. For example, where are the visitors coming from who actually opt-in to your list when they hit your page.

I can't speak for all auto-responder services, but with aWeber it's easy to follow. If you login to your account and bring up your subscribers you have the option of sorting them in any way you wish. They normally come up in the order in which they subscribed. But you will find the box shown below where you can select "Ad Tracking".





As you can see above, there are many different sort options available. Now, you can create as many different opt-in forms as you want to put on your sites, blogs, or have aWeber host them from their site. I do this with opt-in forms I direct traffic to from article directories. You can even have two forms exactly the same but name them differently. Then put one on a web site and one on a blog. Even thought they look the same, they are different forms as far as aWeber is concerned. They will track separately.



Above you can see some incoming subscribers from my forms. Notice that there are two opt-in forms that begin with new_form followed by numbers. The forms are exactly the same, but one was on one of my blogs and one was on another. Also, at the bottom is a subscriber coming in from an ezinearticles article.

In the above image my subscribes were not sorted by form but by date. If you sort them by form you can easily see exactly where your subscribers are opting in from instantly.

You can also do this with something like YouTube. Create a form in your autoresponder and put that form on a squeeze page for a specific video you post or use the same one for all the videos you post. Then, in the description you include for your video have the URL for your squeeze page appear at the very beginning.

NOTE: At YouTube you MUST include the http:// part of the URL along with the domain or the link will not be live--it will simply show as text. That drives people crazy sometimes. If the URL to your squeeze page looks long or funky, you can use an URL shortener like bit.ly or budurl to create a more manageable URL to use there.

If you do that you can tell which of your subscribers are coming in from your videos as opposed to articles, your web sites or blogs.
