How Will You Promote an Online Store?

Hi guys,

I own the online toy store, Ben10Collectibles.com

Right now, I'm trying to come up with ways to promote it. I've used PPC without much success (too little returns).

What I am using right now is promoting the store through Google product data feed, and advertising on Amazon.

Beyond that, are there any other methods that you guys can recommend on how to promote this very niche online toy store?

your site is taking much time to load . so first clear it because site peed is an important factor now. you must have main category pages for your basic general category products instead of linking directly to product page

there are so many shopping directories out there , you need to create data feed of your products and then add to thees shopping directories. will make huge difference in your traffic and backlinks..

I am using firefox 3.6.3 and the site loads instantly, i think you have a problem, but i agree with you, submit your site to shopping directories, you can find lots of them

The load time was not too bad for me, but not instantaneous, it can be a search ranking factor. You certainly want to hang around any forums or facebook groups that discuss your product. Facebook advertising demographics are good, you can target age groups, and "interest" keywords, the ad tool will tell you how many match your criteria. Sure seems to have plenty of searches, have you optimized for the right keywords.

You could become the expert on the series as part of a long term plan, forming a facebook group or forum on your site.

Submit your stores/websites to search engines. Example: Dmoz, Google, MSN and many more.

Put your websites/blogs/stores/lenses links in your email signature. Make sure that your friends/family members/employees email signatures have your links too.

Forward interesting information, news, photos, videos, jokes, sad stories and all kinds of junk mails to your friends. Your friends will forward these mails to their friends. Make sure that you forward these mails to friends that like to receive them, not those that hate junk mails.

Pretty small online store since you only sell one type of product.

SEO should be pretty easy and low competition.

    Have you tried Ebay stores?

Why was there bad returns on Google AdWords, is there actually competition for you keywords or is the conversion rate of your site too low?

The simple stage for the promotion of online stores is the marketing of the stores data and advertising of them which increases more visibility in the market for the business and increases the process for marketing and gives more profits to the site.
Having the best affiliate programs more benefits are there.

      Thanks.....

You could also try article writing on ezine, forum posts, request of link exchanges, link juicer, and if you want PPC Campaigns i suggest adwords, they are expensive, what did you use in the past?

As you are running a commercial site so you should submit it to shopping directories. Online shopping directories are available on net. Try submitting your website there. So try it and you will get result. Commercial sites are sometimes easy to advertise through article writing so you can also work on this. Cheers

Thanks for all the tips so far, guys. I've submitted my product feed to a few places, but I've been rejected by Shopping.com. I think they have an issue with my store's name being a copyright infringement (Ben 10 Collectibles). Oh well.

Since I'm not based in USA, some pay-per-lead product feed sites like Bing are off-limits to me. Can you guys suggest further sites?

...you need also to make some keyword research and put meta keywords and meta description on your page.

Your meta title is fine...but the meta description has one keyword and it's very competitive !

Better use a description of your shop on your meta description tags and not a single keyword.

Like: Online shop with ben 10 collectibles e.t.c.

You can also join a forum related to your niche and participate......it's a great tactic.

I use a service called Synnd for online promotion. Also social bookmarking sites like socialadr and socialmonkee are great for driving traffic and getting exposure to your site. These cost money monthly (unless you use my service) but are worth it.

I got one word for you.
    Facebook Fan Page.

I've almost stopped SEO for my websites and I'm only using Facebook and Fan Pages to promote my stores and products.
If you can post Ben 10 stuff, non-related to your shop you could get lot's of fans and great conversion.

Well Sirius Lin, what you can do in order to get more traffic to your website is to use services like listbonus.com and traffic swarm.com. These websites have loads of traffic. Also other methods you can try is social media advertising. I hope this helps

erm you are not helping, she said she already tried it with not much success.
      Did you read her OP?

Anyways, to the OP, did you register for a business name?
I see that you are from singapore and i saw a thead before talking about singapore laws, and it requires you to have a registered business ID even for blogshops.

There is a fine and i think 6 months jail term for not doing so.

You might want to check out. Not worth the trouble.
