How in the world can you build a list with Adwords, these days?

I've just finished Kevin Hutto's Adwords course 'Streetwise PPC.' (It's great, by the way, it teaches you how to set up a campaign while keeping your costs low).

I finish the course, go through my notes, spend a couple of days creating my landing pages, including content, making it a landing 'site' with articles, links and useful content etc etc.

I try to start my campaign but every time I submit an ad, it gets disapproved within about 1-2 minutes. The reason being 'Site Policy.' I spend an evening adding and subtracting elements to the landing pages and resubmitting. I have T&C's, Privacy Policy, Contact Page, Transparency, Useful Content, External Links, Internal Links all sorted. I'm not promoting any affiliate or CPM offers, no get rich quick schemes or anything remotely dodgy. I have a video lesson on the page with a prompt to sign up at the end, to get more videos. Still, every time the pages aren't accepted.

I pour through the Adwords guidelines again and find this...

"Examples of prohibited websites:

Websites that offer a free gift in exchange for personal information
Websites that request personal information to get the results of a survey or quiz

Examples of acceptable websites:

Websites that request personal information for legitimate lead generation or business purposes"

So it seems it's my opt in form that's causing the problem. Which brings up the question of; How are we supposed to build a list? All of my selling and pre-selling is done via my autoresponder sequence, so capturing emails is essential for me.

Is there anybody out there with any advice? Anyone with a successful adwords campaign that can offer tips about landing pages/sites that still collect emails?

Is the emphasis on the freebie for subscribing, or on your business? Many 'squeeze' pages focus on selling the freebie, which you have to submit the form to get. Very little mention of the product(s) they are trying to sell.

That type of squeeze page often gets lumped in with some of the iffy CPA offers ("fill out the form and get a free gift card to ________") and the like.

Some people have seen success by setting up a separate landing page for Adwords, with more emphasis on the benefits in the presell information and less on the freebie. Make it look more like a standard web page, with navigation in plain sight, etc. It might leak more than a standard squeeze page, but it has a better chance of being approved...

Adwords is good but I'd look around to Yahoo & BING.

If your wasting time with Adwords setup Yahoo and BING until you work things out with Adwords this way you're getting some leads.

As for Adwords I can't really give to much advice as I stopped using them and found other sources of traffic. One thing you can do random searches through Google and see what type of landing pages are staying up and see what they are doing compared to your site.

Many of my similar campaigns were disabled in adwords and then I switched them all to adcenter which house both bing and yahoo.Atleast for now they don't have any strict landing page policy and accepts sites easily. Now my 80% traffic comes from adcenter and only 20% from adword which was the other way around earlier.

Cool, thanks guys. I guess Adcenter is the way to go for now, at least. My goal here is to have some kind of 'set it and forget it' traffic system. I'm just worried that if these PPC avenues are going to keep getting more strict and shutting down accounts out of the blue, there'll be little to no security in my income.

Originally I thought PPC was the most 'stable' method of generating traffic but after studying it, it seems it's quite possibly the least stable.

Would running your campaign on the display network be of any help?

I have heard that they are less strict on quality score on the Display network. I don't know why this is the case, or if its definitely true, but I have seen a lot of online marketers say it is much easier to get approved when running your ads on the display network only.

Adsenses cutting off squeeze pages, where you are there to build a list?

How long has this new rule been in place, that you cant point adwords to a optin squeeze page?

When did this new rule come into play?

And if traffic is being driven to your optin page with adwords, can they check your site to make sure it isnt just there for the list building purpose?

How can they check? or it is just to NEWER sites
      ?

The traditional squeeze pages as we know them are no longer allowed.

Their interpretation is that they are data collection sites.

I've run into the same problems with Google Adwords.
The only response they give you is, "We wan't transparency
for our users". No matter what your product consist of or the
          niche you're in.

So now, 80% (Guestimation) of the websites you submit ads
for that have an opt in as the starting point of your sales funnel,
will be denied. There are some exceptions because a few ads still
remain that go against this rule.

"Big G" will come after them soon enough if they see anything wrong.
If they do, they will not tell you exactly what the issue is. So plan
to market your squeeze pages without Google PPC. There are other
          options...

They seem to convert better anyway!

          Take that Google PPC.

It's been around for several months, at least. You can track it by looking for the sudden jump in the number of "Google killed my account" threads on this and other marketing forums.

As for existing squeeze pages, many of the people starting and adding to the threads I mentioned found out about the rule when they logged into their Adwords account, only to find it locked and suspended...
