If you're using a Windows computer, you should be able to purchase virtually any cheap USB webcam for recording video - I know Logitech does a few. However, you may need to pick up a USB microphone as well.

If you're using a Macintosh computer, it may already have a webcam built-in. Check the top of your display for a square black box. If present, that's your built-in iSight - congratulations! If not, you'll need to find and purchase an iSight that's compatible with your computer. Most Macintosh computers already have a built-in microphone.

Once you have a webcam and microphone, Youtube has a special mode where you can record videos directly to their site from your computer. Once you've posted the video, you can then download it with one of several free Youtube video downloaders - a low quality download will give you FLV (Flash Video), a high quality download will give you MP4 (MPEG-4). I recommend the MP4 as you can then upload it to other sites.

I personally use the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 and it's super fantastic. A lot of webcams are lacking in frame rate which makes the video seem slow and choppy. The Logitech QuickCam 9000 doesn't do that.

You can upload straight to YouTube as well and only costs $119 US

Best bang for your buck as far as I'm concerned.
