What to do about 'intrusive', forced opt-in & no opt out telephone marketing?

How do you guys deal with 'intrusive' telephone marketing?

Been getting calls recently from:

a) Someone who hides their number (i.e., private #, etc, so doesn't show up on call display)
b) Then, it has a "recorded" female voice (that sounds like a 'real' person talking, just how they have the dialogue set up). Says something like "Hi! This is so & so, I have an important message for you, and I am just transferring you now".
c) It then takes you to a "recorded" advertisement, which (in this case), happened to be a survey. If you don't "respond" in their survey, they hang up. No way to get on the 'do-not-call'.

This particular one happened to be a "FREE" bahamas cruise line/ship/package (which of course isn't free, it's just highly intrusive with no 'opt-out'). AND they continue to call.

Another variant is the "Are you in DEBT? Do you need a way of getting out? Then WE can help YOU!"

Format is basically a phone call asking you if you are in debt (recorded voice, they don't honor 'do-not-call' information). Then you press '2' to 'speak' to a representative. If 'transferred' after being forced to listen to the 1-minute sales pitch (anything else just disconnects, & they call later), and if you speak with a sales represenative, if you do not 'immediately' give your personal information (i.e., to sign up for their 'no debt' package), then they just 'hang-up' on you. And then of course, you get dialed again later.

What do you guys do to get rid of this messages & stop them from calling? Have registered with the do not call, as well as the 'odd' chance I have been able to speak with someone, told them not to call the number'. However, they keep calling, and no respect for anyone's wishes. I am assuming they are just mass dialing numerous people like this.

What have you done to deal with that?

John
