An affiliate link is a link placed (on his own website or elsewhere) by a self-employed commission-based sales-agent ("affiliate") which takes a potential customer to a vendor's website in such a way that if the customer buys something (sometimes a "specific something" or sometimes anything on the site), the affiliate earns a commission from the vendor in return for having produced the customer.

There are also some circumstances under which affiliates are paid commissions for their "lead" doing something other than buying (e.g. joining a membership scheme, even if initially free, or opting in with their email address, phone number, and/or other personal details of established collective value to the vendor).

Affiliates are essentially incentivized traffic-providers for vendors.

Good thinking (to check, I mean).

Affiliate-links per se are not allowed here. You can, however, link (in your sig-file) to a site/blog which you own yourself, which contains affiliate-links.

Why do they have problems with affliates posting there site on here?

Just to add to what Alexa said:

In some cases, affiliates earn "recurring commission". This is a situation whereby a customer referred by the affiliate keeps paying monthly or annual subscription fees.

Being an affiliate is a good way to start if you can't create your own product at the moment.

Forgive me, I'm not as good as Alexa at explaining terms.

An affiliate link is simply a link that redirects to a product or service and is tracked with an affiliate ID. If you purchase that product or service, the person that referred you there will get a commission for referring you.

It is a code that is connected to an image or text placed on an affiliate's web page/ advertisement that tells the business which affiliate should be endorsed for the customer sent to their site.
