I recently made an incredibly informative post in the main forum here that went through some detail to give some try to give some insight to struggling marketers who are caught up in all of the hype of how to "make thousands overnight" and how to overcome that. Just wanted to offer some advice, because I see so many people in the main forum who are frustrated with IM in general.

Come back a few minutes later, and the post is gone.

Anyway, while I know most of you will say "that's how it is" and move along, it's sad that informative posts that are actually helpful get tossed when irrelevant posts like "How Much Did You Make This Year" and "If You Had $50,000, Some Tin Foil and a Map, What Would You Do?" end up staying in the main thread, serving no real purpose. And, it's not just my post - I've seen it happen to many others who've made some awesome posts in the past. I'll save it as a favorite to come back to and BAM - it's gone.

I love it here and most members offer some killer advice, but when solid posts are tossed for some that are completely irrelevant, it doesn't make sense.

Anyway, just wanted to get that out there. Now, watch this post get eliminated in 3, 2, 1.....

Since I didn't see the original post I can't comment on that specifically. But I can say that I've been on this board for many years and sometimes I'll still make a post that I think is informative or helpful, but it still gets squashed. Clearly there are the written rules here as well as some unwritten ones.

Many times one can't see the reason why their post or thread got zapped because they are too close to it and it's difficult to be 100% objective. While the mods don't get it right all the time I'd like to think about 99% of the time they do get it right.

Lastly, I still book mark threads if I want to access the information from them in the future, but now I also turn them into PDFs using Open Office and save them in the appropriate folder on my PC because I know they might disappear.

Same thing happened to me, I posted a long informative thread and before you know it, it was taken down. And then you look around here and find all these useless threads that stick around. Moral of the story, useless threads help people make more money?!

There are many reasons posts are taken out, and you have to understand that some of the reasons aren't because it was a bad post in the mods eyes. They might have a totally different reason that what you might think.

Though the moderators do a fantastic job, they don't always see every post...there are thousands, and so not all of the garbage is able to be dealt with.

I wouldn't sweat it...just continue to post valuable information and most of them should stick.

    Ok

    2 things

If you want to save anything use this:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8186/

and, having been both a mod and a forum owner in the past I can tell you that both owners and mods have 'certain way' they want to see their forums moving in and if your thread exposes too much truth at once about anything specific it may be removed or if it opoints perhaps tio the wrong things or is not their "style" of things it may be deleted

I know that sucks but thats life

Maybe you should build a forum where things like that don't happen and usefull posts are apprechiated.

Useful posts are appreciated here...that's not the point or the issue. Sometimes posts are deleted for reasons other than them being useful. The moderators have to think in a different way than people who just come here and read and post.

It's strange to read someone referring to their own posts as "incredibly informative." That said...

A lot of posts are stupid, but within the rules, while some very useful information isn't. For example, if it looks like a stealth promotion or an article, it doesn't last long. The discussion sections are not intended for either of those purposes.

We also don't generally allow promotion or bashing of other forums, posts which are (or are likely to become) political or religious in nature, or posts which bash individuals or products.

We also mostly delete posts complaining about deleted posts. Sometimes one of us will reply, in order to remind people of some of these rules.

Hey Paul - I've been around the forum awhile now. I know the rules. I know what's allowed and what's not. It's pretty straight forward.

I can say that my post was not promotional, bashing any product or service, political or religious. Like I said, I know the rules. But hey, the thread is deleted now, so it is what it is.

I just wanted to state my opinion. Anyway, now that's said and done, you can go ahead and remove this thread.

And yet, it got deleted. I notice you didn't say it couldn't have looked like an article.

This is a wonderful example of why we rarely explain. Too many people want to argue the point.

I overlooked that. For the record, no - it was not an article either. Like I said though, it's besides the point now.

There was no argument. In fact, I mentioned that you could delete this thread as well now that there is no more substance.
