The Marketing Niche. Your thoughts.

I'm curious to hear WF's thoughts on the Marketing/Internet Marketing Niche when it comes to content and information products. I am currently writing a book on the subject and wanted to see if WF had any good ideas or thoughts i've not considered.

Any niche has a lot more involved with it other than just traffic, and competitors. The first secondary aspect I normally look at for any niche is community. WF is a great example of this. There is absolutely no better place on the internet to learn about internet marketing than WF. What about other considerations however? Like SMO, potential partnerships, price point, and viral aspects.

What would be your experiences, pros, cons, with the subject, and the monetization. So many IM'ers market to this niche. Aside from being in the community already and knowing your subject. I'm curious to why you think this is.

    It's efficient.

If I want to market to some particular niche, I should spend time on their forums and reading their blogs and studying the things that matter to them.

I already do that with marketing. So I get all that stuff I ought to do for free. It's a no-brainer.

As opposed to, say, left-handed cowbells. I don't give a flying leap at a rolling donut about left-handed cowbells. You can't give me a high enough commission to hang around talking to people about the subject.

Which is why everyone keeps saying "find your passion" about choosing a niche.

I couldn't agree more! I wrote 35 pages of content yesterday and I am still on that roll today. I could never do that with something I wasn't passionate about. Why do you think it is profitable though? I would like to think it isn't just because of all the newbie wanabie make it rich'ers out there.

Well, I know I spend money on stuff in it. Chances are other people will, too.

I don't market to this niche. I just use what I learn here and use those techniques to market other niches.

Now about those left-handed cowbells - that's exactly what I'm talking about getting golden gems for ideas!

This niche knows all the tricks.

You have to form alot of relationships and give ALOT of value for free. IMHO.

        Exactly.

On the other hand, the tricks that we use selling to IM'ers are unheard of in most other niches. Take the free report -> opt in -> OTO -> list building method for example.

Everyone hear knows about it and most are aware of what's happening when they opt in for something that's free.

In other niche markets, it's a whole lot more effective as people are not expecting it.

What was new in the IM crowd five years ago still works in other niches just as well as it did then!

          Totally agree.

Certain tactics are still incredibly effective for other niches. The IM niche is tough insofar as it all boils down to providing the most amount of value, and being transparent and honest with everything you do. People KNOW that when they click on an affiliate link, you'll earn a commission on any sales. You have to create a hub where people are willing to do that simply because it's YOU....and they trust you.
