Time off and loving it ... IM is truly passive

Hi guys

Just to say I have not posted for ages as I am taking time off (again).

I love the fact that my sites are still working, especially as I keep expecting to see a traffic dip with my key sites and it is not happening ... money comes in everyday

If you are new to this game, keep at it and build quality foundations.

It will pay out for years to come.

Speak soon

That's great John, I look forward to being in that position and taking time off while my income still keeps coming.

    Enjoy!

It can be a great deal of fun when it works...
that's the hard part - getting it to the point when
it starts working. When that eventually happens,
    it's just absolutely magical,

    Congrats to you!

Between my regular job and IM I take off about 80 days a year. Even though I still dabble a little with the IM during that time "off" it is considerably less than normal (maybe a few hours here and there) and it's very nice having it do most of the "work" for me when I walk away for a bit.

I would really like to find someone on here who would kind of "take me under their wing", mentor me and help me along. My website is up and running (are you allowed to post it here? www.motherearthbamboo.com) but I am so bombarded by all the info on the web that I truly don't know what to believe or how to proceed.

I mean, what's true, what's scam, is this way better? is that way? is reciprocal linking good, bad or ugly? is Blogging & social networking the only way to get traffic to your site......... do you need an SEO expert company charging you $$$$$ before you'll be able to make a go...... arrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh

I've worked my little butt off since October getting my site to where it is right now, and I intend to keep working as long and as hard as I need to in order to start making some money and see a little profit. I'm very passionate about my product (all things bamboo) and I absolutely love IM and SEO and all the other great initials. I just need a little bit of help. (well, ok, a LOT)

I've been a nurse for 33+ yrs and just don't want to have to work so hard for my money. I'd like to have my money work for me !! Plus, I'm 55 and RETIREMENT is on the horizon (well, if that horizon is about 20 yrs away). I swear I'll be using a cane and walker to take care of my patients. Heck, maybe they'll have to take care of me.

Anyway, if someone out there takes pity on a poor overworked, underpaid (yes, damnit underpaid) nurse who's trying to break into the IM, SEO, SEM, WSO, PPC, PPV, PPwhatever market, then let me know cause I'd appreciate any and all help. And yes, I just joined the War Room........

    thanks !! Sherrie

      Welcome to the WF Sherrie.

One good thing you've done so far is getting the War Room membership, kuddos to you for that move, probably the best $37 you will ever spend in IM!

Now, as far as finding a mentor is concerned, it usually isn't as easy as simply asking for one in an unrealted thread..well sort of unrelated. You will have much better luck finding one if you spend a little time getting to know people here first. Take some time to learn, ask questions, get involved and contribute to discussions. This is the best way to make friends here which will more than likely lead you in the right direction.

      Best of luck in IM!

I thought nursing paid really well?

Anyway Sherrie, there are many people out there who would love to become a nurse, people in California, New Jersey, all over. They would probably be very happy to find a website that walks them through everything they need to know about becoming a nurse. I would imagine Adsense pays very well for such a site as well

Make that site in Wordpress, write articles with links pointing at your site and link to it from blogs and forums. Pick up all the other abbreviations and clever methods along the way.

I guarantee you will make money if you do this. Make it your goal to have the best website about nursing on the internet.

You're sitting on a golden egg there Sherrie!

Jack - that's a great idea and one I may start working on. To tell the truth, I'm kind of tired of nursing right now. Been one for 33 yrs and I'm pretty worn out ! It pays well when compared to being a cop or city worker etc, but by God, you earn every dang penny of that salary.

Having the kind of site you suggested would definitely be a no-brainer for me as far as the content. It would absolutely be an easier way to make some money. So thank you and cya around..... sherrie

I understand, I couldn't imagine working a high stress envoriment like that for that many years.

Sherrie, I hope you do go for the nursing site, it's a very realistic option and you've got all the tools to succeed.

I'd be happy to help out with what I can if you need any help. I generally don't recommend buying products, but in this case I would recommend getting Adsense 100K Blueprint, as I think it's exactly what you need.

It's $47 and you can get a refund if it doesn't deliver.

Otherwise, feel free to shoot me a PM if you struggle with anything.

      Thanks for all the feedback.

My encouragement for anyone starting out or struggling is to focus on one single method and project until it works.

Personally I avoid anything that looks likes it will only work until Google change their rules or that particular method gets saturated i.e. I have built a sustainable long method that needs minimal maintenance.

Once you crack this nut it is a case of rinse and repeat.

Avoid jumping around, avoid hype (There is so much BULL)

Give your customers exceptional value and information

Happy 2011 ... you can make it happen

Which is precisely the question I have. How do you know which methods are saturated or prone to rule changes? I am just getting started with passive income and I really don't want to waste my time on marketing efforts that won't make me money in the long run.

The key to achieving this sort of passive income is picking the right business model, one that isn't based on temporary loopholes and 'glitches'.

There is no free lunch here though, and you'll still have to work hard initially to get it to the point where it needs minimal maintenance.

      Hi Paul

Just could not put this better.

There has been a recent trend of people selling 'loophole' products which are just not worth going after. I see these products as distractions and steer clear.

Get your business model sorted and then FOCUS until you are earning the amount of cash per DAY that you are after.

My big discovery was Article Marketing for driving traffic ... I have heard so many people saying it is not what it used to be and the ezine articles is dead. But this does not match up to my own experience.

Tip for the day test and check yourself, don't just go with what all the bleaters are saying.
Often these are the 'in it for a fast buck' crew who I suggest you don't follow anyway.

John, thanks for sharing. The 'fast buck' crew are utterly unreasonable in their expectations, and basically want pushbutton profits for doing very little of anything, and of course this is nothing more than a pipe dream and an absurd fantasy.

Article marketing is certainly not dead, and can be a very viable source of the type of passive traffic that has allowed you to enjoy residual profits even while taking time off.

The issue here is that this is not an 'instant gratification' strategy, and the naysayers neither have the patience nor the determination to execute this successfully. It takes really consistent and focused work to get things going with article marketing, and that is the last thing that these people want to hear!

Sometimes I need to be reminded of this. It is too easy to get distracted with the latest thing.

One day I too will be able to take time like that off and my previous work will be well invested in sites that continue to work for me.

      Thanks.

You're welcome. I know that it's all too easy to get distracted by the latest shiny new product promising a new Google or free traffic loophole, etc.

Do not let your focus get distracted, and work on only one thing at a time. I'm sure you've heard this advice before and it may seem overly simplistic, but it's much easier said than done in practice.
