If you had $1000 to invest, from scratch

I've seen a lot of questions about "sure" ways of making money (fast of course, and with zero or minimal investment).

I'm a little more real than that.

I've surfed the world over and think there is money out here and also a lot of dead ends if you don't cross the T's and dot the i's.

Action gets mentioned a lot. "Take Action" is very important. I get that part too.

I'm reasonably knowledgable about 'List Building" and "Article Marketing", etc.. done all my homework.

But... where to start is the question.

Say I am willing to take action and have $1000 to *invest* (not just spend, invest)...

What should I do, in what should I invest, to set the stage for a long term business success ?

Looking forward to your wise council...

-Tim

Invest? I think you should be a tad bit more specific. But in my opinion, if it concerns strictly IM then invest in a marketing course about ONE method of generating traffic and converting that traffic into buyers. Facebook outranks google as the number one most visited so a course on FB would be a great investment. There are some great ones in WSO, but one of the best would be facebook ppc domination by anthony grant. He really knows his stuff. Now....if you mean investing financially, i would suggest mike dillards elevation group. No affiliate links here, just GREAT choices. I personally am a member of dillards EVG, but the Facebook PPC course is coming from me strictly by word of mouth. I havent tried it yet. Cheers!!

I think you could go 2 ways.

      1. You already have a plan and know what you want to do. Use the $1,000 to accelerate the plan. Outsource, etc.

      2. You don't have a plan. Spend the $1,000 on a course or coach to get you on the right track.

Personally, I have actually been in the situation where I had about $500 to invest and here is how I did it.

Since I am already a skilled writer I did not buy any articles, however, if you are not a great writer or do not enjoy it, then I would spend about 30% of the money on articles since they will pull traffic and backlinks for a very long time. Content is still king and there is a lot you can do with over $300 of articles that are written for you.

My $500 was broken down like so:

$150 was spent with isnare and other submission services for my articles
$150 was spent outsourcing tasks for my websites like custom headers and different graphics that I am not very good at creating
$60 was spent to pay for hosting ahead of time for all my websites
$40 was spent to buy a handful of domain names for my websites.
$100 was spent to hire someone to build backlinks to my websites.

In my opinion if I were in your situation I would also spend a little money and have a few videos created for marketing purposes. The main thing is you need a few websites in a few niches that promote products or have google adsense on them. Then, you need some articles to create traffic and backlinks to your websites. You will also want some web 2.0 backlinks which can usually be created from the articles through a service or someone that can do it for you.

    Hope this helps!

If you want a real investment then spend all of that on gold an wait a couple years

If you want to turn that 1000$ into a fortune just follow what Benjamin Ehinger is proposing.

Ps. This is my personal opinion as an individual and not that of Hosterbox

    $1,000? That's easy.

I'd get a new suit, and spend rest on money taking my offline clients out to lunch. The online stuff can be done for free, but in the offline world, tangible service is king.

    Very good question.
First what you want to do is write a business plan and in that plan you want to lay out what you want to do and what it is going to take to accomplish it

Once you figure out what you want to do then you do some research BEFORE spending anything.

Once you do your research you then would purchase tools and the like that will be needed to accomplish what you need.

It is best to be wise before spending a dime I spent over 4 k when I came online and I could have easily saved 38 hundred of that.

    I wish you much success

  • I'd put the money in a high interest account or keep it as a safety net and keep building my wealth slowly. Get rich quick scheme's aren't truth.

Thanks for all of the advice.

Just needed a word of encouragement from some seasoned warriors.

I'm off to *write down* my plan, and then work it.
