Who here hands out business cards at events? We market online so there isn't a whole lot of contact face to face but I'm attending my first live event soon and the possibility to make connections is huge so I thought handing out business cards might be a good idea.

Just wondering what to put on them...aside from contact info.

Thoughts? Opinions? Ideas?

Happy turkey day to my American friends!

    Business cards are essential... don't forget flyers, tri-fold brochures, and any other form of 'real world' advertising.

    Not to mention, you can leave your business cards/brochures around your own community, at different business locations/shopping malls/grocery stores...

    Here's a great resource to get some free business cards to get started:

      Business cards are important for branding, even when you don't think anyone in the brick and mortar world notice. When networking you can meet folks that can help your business in ways that you never imagined. So hand out your mini advertisements, the business cards.

      I also recommend vistaprint. Spend the extra $15.00 to add text to the back of the business card to highlight your products or services and you will have people tracking you down to find out more info. The front and back are little landing pages, so put some effort into them to set yourself apart.

    I don't believe in business cards personally but if you really want to then please make sure to put your picture on them... That goes a long way believe me.

    When I attend IM conferences by the end of the night I have about 50 of those things and do you think I can remember who all gave them to me?

    Thats why I have a contact and a no contact pocket... LOL but it makes it much easier when the person includes their picture and what they are about (i.e. what is it they do or can provide to me)

    Mike;

    Being an off-line as well as an online business professional here is my suggestions to your question:

    First your job when networking is to fit into their world...so look the part, in the off-line world appearance and initial impressions are everything.

    Your thinking of having business cards is right on and a must to show credibility and professionalism.

    For your business card keep it simple and tailored to your prospects world( i.e. easy for them to understand).

    Your business card on the front should list the following;

    Your company logo
    Company tag line(simple like:"We Help Companies Turn Their Web Visitors Into Dollars)
    Your name, your title
    Company name
    Company Address
    Company phone
    Company website

    On The back:

    Have a one to two line special offer in black lettering that is easy to read and has no expiration date ( for example)

    "We Will Show You How To Increase Your Close Ratio Off Your Website's Leads By 23% For Free. Call 800-xxx-xxxx To Schedule Your Free Website Evaluation.

    I hope this was helpful.

    Very few people will call you - I've often written a person's
    name and number on the back of a card... and their specific
    area of challenge - and followed up with a phone call later.

    Making an effort to follow-up is classic salesmanship. Taking
    an interest in solving other people's problems is a critical
    networking skill as well and when you help the favor is not
    quickly forgotten in the selfish world we live in. Often, if you
    know a lot of people in business, you can act as a matchmaker
    and help 2 people out. This is a great way to build goodwill.
