I have a few old posts which are not ranking very well on Google. Is it fine if I submit them to EzineArticles.com without any modifications?

You will find this is what a lot of people do. They will first submit an article to their own blog, once it has been indexed by Google they will then go and submit it to the article directories. It is probably best if you can change up the article a little but since I am not an article marketer by trade, there may be someone who can shed some more light on that for us.

It varies. A quick way to see what they have indexed from your site is to search Google for:

site:yourdomain.com

where yourdomain.com is your blog URL.

This will give you a list of all pages they've indexed for your website to date.

That is really a function of how old your blog is, how frequently you update it and how many links are pointed at your blog.

One of my blogs is indexed in seconds. Others take a few minutes and the new ones even days.
