Warrior Special Offer Do's and Donts

Hi folks,

I've been browsing through the WSO section and there seems to be some good content there.
This got me thinking about launching my own product.

Could anyone that has actually already done this list any do's and donts regarding this?
I'm not looking for trade secrets here, just the basic etiquette if you like.

For example:
Let's say you launch a report about making money with an affiliate program but this affiliate program costs a one-off fee to join.
So your report may be something like 'How I make money as an affiliate', which the reader buys, but then realizes they have to pay a fee to join this program? Is this common with these WSO offers? Would this annoy the buyer?
This is just a hypothetical scenario of course. I don't use any affiliate programs that cost money to join.

Perhaps a better example would be let's say you are revealing how to perform a particular skill in internet marketing, but you use a paid tool to do this.
So your report will be full of valuable content that actually works, but this means anyone that buys your course would probably need to buy this tool as well. Again is this common?

I haven't really decided if this is something I want to pursue ,but I'd just be interested to hear if anyone has any views on these points and anything else in general related to WSO.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. Yes the actual product would definitely be mine as a type of 'How I', or 'How to'. My worries would be that if I use an internet marketing tool as part of my strategy, then they would have to use that tool as well. Just some thoughts at the moment. Nothing in the pipeline really.

If anything in a WSO makes it necessary to purchase other tools, then it should be stated in your sales copy as a way of courtesy.

      That's what I was going to say . . .

I would be perfectly fine with purchasing a WSO like you are speaking of if it told me in the sales copy that you used "xxx tool" to perform your job and that if would be needed to implement the technique you are teaching.

A big part of IM is being transparent, and it's sometimes hard to do when we are trying to sale something. However, if you can be upfront and honest with your audience then I think your WSO could be a big hit.

      Good Luck

It's certainly common for WSOs to teach techniques that require paid resources and tools (i.e. additional expenses would be required beyond the cost of the WSO itself), and it would be good practice to disclose this in your WSO sales copy, so that prospective buyers have a better idea of what they're getting themselves into when they buy your WSO.

    Thanks for the feedback chaps.
Are there any rules against using brand names such as Google in your title? I've seen a few WSO's that do, but wasn't sure if they are breaking some rules whether they be Warrior rules or general rules. I'd also look to eventually release this on clickbank, so again am curious if brandnames are allowed/advisable.

You could also base your method around what the tool does and explain how to do it manually. Then you can hint to the paid product and say that this tool allows you to get the same thing done in much less time.

Then in the sales copy I would mention that you recommend using a tool with your method, but that you also explain what steps to follow if someone doesn't choose to follow your recommendation.

      Can anyone advise on this:
If you offer your course for free in your signature, but then at a later stage decide that there is some interest and that you'd like to charge a price for it, can you remove the free version offer and then post it as a WSO?
Basically I know a WSO should be the cheapest offer anywhere for your product online, but is that at the current time? i.e It's ok if your item used to be free?

You're worried about too much. Just get something going and sweat the details later.

Find out the rules as required by the forum and just put something together.

I understand all the hypotheticals are giving you concern...but if you get stuck in that mode, you'll never pull out of it and never make your first product.

So find out what's required for the WSO forum, worry about these little things later, and just produce something valuable so the people who buy it can make progress in their efforts.

          I couldn't agree more.

At a low price point, you'll be able to do a lot. I mean there are free resources for everything and if you show how to do x,y, and z for free...then at the back say "this $20 software makes it a ton easier" then you could probably insert it as an affiliate link inside your low priced product.

Bottom line, simplicity and common sense (which isn't so common prevail).

As long as you deliver...and then go beyond that value wise...you'll do fine with making WSOs.

Violate the rules, scam people, or be rude...and you're fried.

          As it should be.

          Cheers,

          Brad

There is an obvious point that no one has mentioned.

You must be a War Room member to run a WSO. I'm not sure that requirement is clear in the WSO stickies and the initial posts about it are in the War Room rules and in older posts by Admin.

Offering a product free - and then charging for the same product as a WSO - would appear a violation of the rules to me. I doubt that would be well received.

I see people offer WSOs all the time and give it away free in the war room.

Posting a wso you have to be the creator of the product. You cannot post a product you only have the rights to. (I mistakenly said to someone they could and was reminded that is not allowed)You can in the classified section though.

I would just create the report and put it up that is really the only way you will get the hang of it and see what works and what does not.

If you want to have a product of value giving it away for free to the war room is not always the most beneficial way to get your product out there. It does in fact devalue the product. Oft times this is done in saying "I want to give back" Which is great if that is the reason but most of the time from my perspective, it is just a way to get your product out and hopefully gather a few into your sales funnel.
